I cant seem to remember much of the 60's, but I do remember seeing the Doors at the Chicago Collisuim . Great show.

To call Rap Music, Music is a contradiction of terms. There is a great guitarist, John Babusia ( spelled wrong I know) I have seen on the TV. Truly a great rock and classical guitar.

one more thing, If you can find the sound track for Monster Garage. track 13 is really good. The rest of the album is crap. but that track is excellent

I had just been released from service as a naval officer and was driving around in Hollywood one night when I heard "Light My Fire" on the radio (the long version). I was instantly transformed. More recently saw the movie "The Doors" for a second time - the one with Val Kilmer - and it took me back to all the craziness and wonder and possibility. Now I look at what we did with all that, now all finally coming to fruition courtesy of the boomers and those of us on the cusp.
    Strange Days, indeed.

So would Ayn Rand approve? Or would she think Doors fans are just being irrational?

Btw, i'm not very musically knowledgeable but watched a great documentary on the Doors. I never knew why even I could always recognize their sound even if it was a song I had never heard before. I'm sure the fact that they had no bass guitar in the band comes as no surprise to those even mildly knowledgeable of music. For me it was an aha moment.

Come on baby, light my fire.

Janis always stuck me as raw emotion.
She definitely had her heart into her singing, though.

I'm a guitar player as well. In fact, most of my favorite things begin with'G'...guns, guitars, GTOs, girls. I have some pretty good collections going on. I have to watch it with the girl collection...the girlfriend has some objection to that for some reason, and she knows where most of the gun collection is.

You are not getting old. You are one of the rare people who have no tolerance for second-raters, let alone the trash of today.

I dunno..."Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose..."

(Yeah, Kristofferson wrote it, but Janis made it hers!)

This decade is the most like the 1960's in most of the bad ways, but the music was really music then. Now the musicians are not even second-raters.
