I think this is so beautiful: in a free realm of ideas and information such as the Internet, people look to learn during leisure
This article appeared a few weeks ago, and I loved it. I know this trend holds true for me. I love CreativeLive, whose founder, Chase Jarvis, is quoted in the article. And I love this, "The surest way to dazzle today’s lifelong learners is through expertise and instruction, not gimmicky and tacked-on showbiz elements. And yet because there is a sizable paying market for educational media...producers are investing more in this material. As a result, the teaching talent becomes better, the production values improve and educational courseware can be just as engaging as any other form of media.
This trend is wonderful evidence against the cynical attitude that people, when left uncontrolled, are simply stupid and shiftless, and the Luddite attitude that technology simply encourages mindlessness. So refreshing to see this, in the NYT no less!
