Ah, doesn't that reflect the 'elasticity' of the product, service and market? :) No puns intended, really!

Gosh, didn't Babs take into account that global warming will create enormous farmlands in Canada and Siberia and food production will increase? We should check to see if Al Gore is buying up all that great real estate while it's still cheap! ;-)

Ah, yes, and the government, being in the business, has been adhering to this practice for a long time...

Curiously, prostitution defies (somewhat) the law of supply and demand. A prostitute raising her price from $200 to $500 per "date" isn't likely to see fewer clients.

    The problem with giving them spoons is that they would have to lay on the ground to lean on them and would lose all pretense of "working". ;-}

And the full moon turns certain people into werewolves. Or in the case of congress, werepussycats.

After what the government has done to marriage, the only purpose left to marry is to rent out your ho!

There was a theorem about that in college; something about the heat of the meat being directly proportional to the mass of the...Oh, never mind.

Did you hear of Milton Friedman's comment during a China visit to a major road work project? His communist host bragged about how the Chinese created full employment by using thousands of workers with shovels instead of heavy equipment. "Why, then, don't you give them spoons?" was Friedman's response.

Barbara Lee should know something about the oldest profession being that she practices the trade every day just by being a Democrat elected official.

seems a contradiction. with global warming there will be more food stuffs grown so food will be less expensive. however, since there are no jobs readily available in out declining economy that may very well suggest to some women that they should sell their body to feed their kids.

I'm sure it would be a government run and funded operation. Being such, think of all the government employees (I deign to call them "workers") we could have standing around leaning on their shovels! That would cause a huge demand for shovels, paid for at government prices! If it ever came to fruition we should all buy the stock of shovel manufacturers.
But speaking of such PRC (People's Republic of California) hair brained schemes, the bullet train is just about as outlandish.

This brings out my inner adolescent and reminds me of what we used to say in junior high. "Takes one to know one..."

Sound like the old anti-sex culture instilled by the Abrahamic religions.

George Carlin restated: Why is it illegal to do an act for money when it is perfectly legal to do the same act for free?

A far more likely cause of the suggested results would be government regulatory commissions over business, health care, energy and death taxes to name a few.

I mean taxing people at around 50% of GDP (between federal and state) is far more likely to create a poverty ridden section of the public more likely to participate in the sex trade.

Perhaps they will one day recognize true causes of poverty and quit attempting to place it on global warming.

Does this woman have any brainwaves? She should get together with the Congressman who thought an island would tip over if too many people lived on one side! This woman is completely disrespectful to women, saying that sex is the only way they can get food! How insulting.

Hahahahahaha. Yes we must stop Continental Drift. I was at one time in a Toastmasters Group and I'd forgotten that I had to give a speech in about 15 minutes so I tossed together a speech about running re-bar across the San Andres Fault, then filling it with concrete to stop it from moving. It was all tongue firmly planted in cheek, but one guy really thought it was a great idea and that the government should do it. I think he was a GS11.
