Don't "waste" your vote

“Political campaigns today are all sideshows…A presidential candidate may be ‘drafted’ in response to ‘overwhelming popular demand,’ but it is well known that his name may be decided upon by half a dozen men sitting around a table in a hotel room...The conscious manipulation of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.”

- Edward Bernays

Do you have the citation for the source? I love it. Too bad Ol' Huey had so many faults, this quote is great.

I couldn't agree less! Giving up is what the Liberal Progressives, Marxist, Maoist, Stalinist, Islamist want us to do! They win We lose with out a fight. Not how I roll, if I don't like the candidate I write in my own. I will not sit down, shut up or take a back seat. I am an American that believes in America & by the way the Gulch as well.

Huey P. Long on the difference between Republican and Democrat leadership:

"The Democratic Party and the Republican Party were just like the old patent medicine drummer that used to come around our country. He had two bottles of medicine. He'd play a banjo and he'd sell two bottles of medicine.

One of those bottles of medicine was called High Popalorum and another one of those bottles of medicine was called Low Popahirum.

Finally somebody around there said is there any difference in these bottles of medicines? 'Oh,' he said, 'considerable. They're both good but they're different,' he said.

'That High Popalorum is made from the bark off the tree that we take from the top down. And that Low Popahirum is made from the bark that we take from the root up.'

And the only difference that I have found between the Democratic leadership and the Republican leadership was that one of 'em was skinning you from the ankle up and the other from the ear down."

Even more ridiculous when a grumpy cat or a guy getting hit in the groin by some blunt object can get a million Youtube views in less than 24 hours.. for free.

    I couldn't agree more.

It's with no pleasure I say that this last mid term election cycle was the first time I didn't vote since I've been eligible; at long last, I couldn't see any daylight between the parties.

You know, there are plenty of qualified people in this country who are capable of doing the job of getting us out of this mess, and smart enough to do the job well. But the fact that they are that smart also means that they're smart enough to not want to do it. I mean c'mon, your family will never have anything resembling a normal life, you personally will be instantly blamed for every problem from global warming to the Lindberg kidnapping. Who needs it? Further, these aren't the kind of people that are reading the want ads...by and large, they all have meaningful, rewarding jobs.

    Bah!

I almost wish I could be naive enough to believe that my vote counts at all.
