Tea Party Artists: NOT

I was searching online for groups of artists who identify with the Tea Party.

I ran across these guys: www dot teapartyartists dot com
I have not included their link, because I don't want to give them the linkback.

A quick perusal shows them to be typical ruling class elitists who see Tea Party people as snaggle-toothed throwback, Wagner listening fascists.

They are welcome to their opinion, but I would like to find/form a group of actual artists who identify with the Tea Party.

Your thoughts are welcome.

I think it is a great idea. I would love to be part of a group like that. I'm not a professional artist, but I do have talent & am working on developing my skills even more. Most of my art is not really political at all, but I have a really good friend that does some awesome art that makes a statement. Let me know what you decide to do. If you form a group, I want to be a part of it. :-)

Sadly, the Tea Party is so disjointed its hard to find anything cohesive about the organization. I'll ask on their website. I caution you to not hold out too much hope though.

I'm currently reading The Romantic Manifesto; and so far, very good. Perhaps that is another trail you might follow to find artists, not necessarily tea-party, but hopefully like-minded artists might be working under the label of a romantic or objectivist artist.

It has gotten to the point that you cannot trust anyone. A party comes on the scene and it looks good, then it is hijacked by another, like what happened to the tea party. Tea party got jacked by the RINOs

Dargo, I disagree. The beauty of a localized and self governing organization is that it is terribly hard to corrupt. You can't corrupt the top of the tea party because it does not have a leadership. It might have organizers, but not leaders who set policy and pace.

You have a good point, the problem is that without cohesive leadership the Tea Party can't manage to run it's own candidate for the top office both state and federal.

The key there is to create art that appeals to the leftists - but which contains a libertarian message - possibly hidden in plain sight. More difficult to do, but also more fun. What better way to make money and enjoy your work than to sell art to lefties that has a hidden message that says, "The owner of this painting is a leftist baboon"? ;-) Test your creativity!

      I write political satire.

I have often thought that the things which I believe will not get traction in society until those things are represented in art.

Supply-side economics, my friend: "build it and they will come."

Well, it's not my day job, and I don't ever expect it to be.

But as Juvenal said back in ancient Rome,

``difficile est saturam non scribere. nam quis iniquae tam patiens urbis, tam ferreus, ut teneat se...''
(``It is difficult not to write satire. For who is so tolerant of the wicked city, so steeled, that he can restrain himself...'')

Slightly off-topic, I love your description of these ones ("typical ruling class elitists") as I know exactly the type. Funny how they don't permit a label to be applied to them, while they always require one for the rest of us. "When you label me, you diminish me." Actually, I think there is an appropriate label for them, "intellectuals". As used in the expression "whenever there is a revolution, the first thing that they do is kill all the intellectuals."

    I love this conversation!
Even though my domain is fabrication (furniture refinishing/reupholstery and creations with fabric, wood, foam, leather, etc.) when my customers hire me they are hiring an artist.
My clientele are becoming fewer and farther between, so I have pulled the "Galt thing" and work for the average person as well, however they don't appreciate art as much.
I'd love to join a TEA Party artist's group.

I *am* a snaggle-toothed throwback, but I prefer Mozart to Wagner.

I think it will be hard to find conservative artists. Somehow the arts have been "taken over" by the socialist mindset. That may just be my perception, though.

The Wagner thing really pissed me off.

Leftists believing that the world of art is theirs has always been true, but there have always been rebels, one of those being Ayn Rand.

Salvadore Dali used to tweak the Marxists into fits.

Jon McNaughton (Christian-Conservative) is tweaking the snot out of the Marxists today.

We *do* exist, and the realm of art is just as much ours.

I can't help but think of the Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) comment: "Wagner's music is much better than it sounds." I prefer Vivaldi or Chopin, and when in a darker mood, Mussorgsky. Christian fiction writers like Tolkien or C.S. Lewis being popular makes liberals crazy, although that isn't why I enjoy them. What bothers liberals the most is that it isn't hard to find a conservative who enjoys French impressionist art as much as he enjoys his favorite 12 gauge.

I honestly do not know of any, Eud.

That being said, if it's something you're pondering, I will happily contribute time, art, whatever would be beneficial.

Btw, I may need some stogies this weekend. Are you in the shop tomorrow, perchance?

I will not be there today or tomorrow.
But Mrs. Eudaimonia & I will be there Saturday for their day long 2nd Anniversary event.
      Complementary catered food @ 4pm.
Specials on San Lotano cigars and Xikar accessories all day long.

If you're looking to buy some gifts, that's the time to go.
Also, check last Sat or Sun Wtby Rep-Am.
There should be a 10% coupon in there.

As for the artist group, I was looking for a group to network through and find a wider audience for my satire.
It concerns me that the snarky Marxist elitists beat us to the punch on this.

      I have an idea though.
I will develop it a bit more when I have time.
