Here's our chance to compile a list of the crimes, misdeeds and offenses committed by those in power, where no real punishment was meted out simply because they were in power at the time!

When president Obama took over GM they went thru a bankruptcy in which they wiped out the bond holders but kept the UAW contract. Not just cronyism this was against the law. It's good to be the king.

Richard Milhouse Nixon, President of the United States.
Decided to resign the Presidency (being the first to do so) when faced with impeachment proceedings.

The Watergate scandal had it's origins in the decision by the Committee to Re-Elect the President, aka CREEP (that should have told them something right there), to break into the DNC offices at the Watergate Office Complex. It seems that there were those in CREEP who felt threatened by the candidacy of George McGovern and decided to 'get the dirt' on his campaign. All they got was arrested.
Interestingly, Nixon carried 49 of 50 States, McGovern's home state of Massachusetts being the lone exception. So at the end of the day, Nixon's biggest crime was being criminally stupid.
