Time to kill the EPA?

So the EPA is basically coming out firmly against free-market feedback?

Here's one of the questions that occurred to me...

If I stay in a hotel and don't take a shower, can I roll over my gallons to my next hotel stay?

Actually, should hotels and motels be treated differently? How about tourists versus long-haul truckers?

We are on our way to being totally screwed.... again.

That reminded me of another 'philosophical divide' I recently noticed. It amazed me that this trivial observation could have such broad impact...

My wife and I joined a fitness center. I noticed a 'public bulletin board' on one wall and tacked my woodturning business card onto it along with the wall-to-wall other ads and cards.

I remarked to my wife that they need a bigger bulletin board.

Her response was that the fitness center could establish some kind of 'sunset rules' to purge old or otherwise 'undesirable' ads and cards after some specified amount of time... time-stamping them and removing them after a month or two, but allowing them to be re-posted if the user wants to.

After I pointed out the need for clear-cut rules, probably a manager or committee to evaluate the cards, keep track of them and take responsibility for the removal of 'aged ads,' it dawned on me... there IS a Better Solution:

GET A BIGGER BULLETIN BOARD. (or hang another similar-sized one next to the original. There is room for at least one more... I measured.)

So, Same With Water... Consider Other Solutions to the Shortage/Consumption problem Besides mandating less usage... SUPPLY MORE WATER to eliminate the Problem!

Desalination? Dredge reservoirs to replace lost drawdown capacity during dry periods?

      Critical Thinking Is Dead!

Wait until these shower monitor sensors become required in your home! I take baths, so I am sure I am going to be screwed.

I take long showers, but not daily. But we only have one low-flow toilet (out of our three).
Where will they install the monitors? On the water meter under the lawn in the front yard or just upstream of our (two) bathrooms' showerheads?

And will I have to pay for the installation of the monitors and/or the remodeling of my walls if the sensors go into the walls behind the shower heads?

How many Other Unintended Consequences can we come up with, other than the hopeful one that a lot of heads at EPA roll as a result of this kind of stupidity.

"Funny" corollary: my new home state of NC tries to subsidize or otherwise 'encourage' companies and industries to set up shop here or expand, in order, allegedly to provide more jobs (and tax revenue, etc...)

So some of those new jobs will be filled by people moving TO NC from other states. And those 'immigrants' will want housing and homes with bathrooms and showers, so on average, water demand in the state should, naturally, increase over time.

So, as the State imports more people, the longer-term residents will be forced to subsidize them not only through taxes, but now also by having our water prices go up or our usage be 'forced down' by fiat?

What (WTF) Could Possibly Go Wrong?!
