Trains are just not a practical economical solution in the US unless its the time in the journey that matters not the destination. Even then I question if the service is deserving of the investment required. I'd rather rent or buy a motor home if I want to enjoy the journey.

Drive or maybe even the train if you have time, but alas trains here are mostly on Grayhound and don't go anywhere I'd want to go.

I always have a bag of almonds (and usually some chocolate when I have to travel.) If driving it will also include chocolate covered espresso beans to stay alert.

I also choose not to fly if it's practical to drive, but I would rather the feds give back the freedom that is guaranteed and was won in revolution by my ancestors.

Hahahahha. I had lots of protein bars in my backpack on my Objectivist Vacation. I'm not paying for pretzels on an airplane. Of course the Russian sitting next to me had some really great smelling salami sandwiches.

Well... agreed... should be able to, but not current reality... so exercise my prerogative not to.
And when we drive, have to research which states have which laws re fire arms and stun guns.

Now if only the professional liability carrier of the TSA wasn't "We the People" this would be great, ugh. We have to pay for crappy unnecessary agencies and then we get to pay more when they screw up, which is all of the time.

But you should be able to fly without being accosted by jack-booted brown-nosing power-seeking thugs. I used to love to travel by air. Now it's another evidence of dictatorship and serfdom.

I've seen TSA allow a bunch of items like Li-Ion cells connected to PCBs, but then many times they stop people from stuff that doesn't even look like anything bad. It seems like it's arbitrary security theater.

Semi-outrageous of the TSA. Who in their right mind, in today's world, would even think of carrying a length of PVC tubing onto a plane?
