Chicago Police Operate Secret "Black Site"

This story is really crazy. I think it says something about the journalists in this country (particularly in Chicago) that a UK publication (The Guardian) broke the story... especially considering this place was “an open secret among attorneys that regularly make police station visits...”

The same Guardian that broke Wikileaks and Snowden.

I'll bet they find something similar in NYC and LA.

  This is my bet too. I suspect that most large cities have something equivalent. How this case is treated will probably determine if those other sites are quietly turned back into warehouses or if they continue to function.

      I think that most such illegal covert ops by official entities are willing to chance (a) being illegal or (b) being publicly dissed, but not both. The American concentration camps for Japanese citizens are examples of an official action that was illegal - but socially approved. If these police covert ops start to be outted and there is a roar of social disapproval (both liberals and conservatives will probably dislike these interrogation centers) then their other-city clones could easily wither away. Discretion being the finer part of valor, etc.
      
      But there would have to be a public outcry.

I saw this the other day. I wasn't surprised it was in Chicago. Perhaps instead of closing Gitmo we should close this "facility". Then again maybe this is where Obama wants to send the remaining detainees.

        A fine point. An article I read stated that the "facility" was part of the "war on terror". But it opened during the 1990s, long before 9/11 became an excuse for every manner of unlawful act perpetrated under the color of law.

Oh, this is bad....very bad.
Every single cop who had anything to do with this needs to go to jail, now.
Gulchers, arm yourselves, if you haven't already. If they come for you to take you to a place like this, don't get taken alive, and take as many with you as you can.
