Censorship is good for creative literature. Only with censorship do we find our own deep-seated need for fiction that barely and carefully alludes to actual political reality. Think of the plays by Václav Havel, which would not have been written if he'd not been in a Communist country.

On the surface, this seems too absurd to even think about.

But right now, if I were to say anything that even remotely hinted that I would like some harm to come to the president (sorry, but I just can't bring myself to capitalize the P in president), I could be charged with a Class D Felony.

Is it really that much of a stretch to extend that so that if I said about a sitting president "I can't wait until this idiot is finally thrown or voted out of office so he can't do any more harm to this once great country", I could also be charged with a crime?

And from there, how big a step would it be for the statement "Until Obama is finally out of office, Carter will be the worst president in U.S. history" to be illegal?

Geez. Thinking about this, I've ruined my own day.

The Obamanation will take his cue from Turkey and sign an Executive order tomorrow upping the penalty to 10 years to Life. He will justify it by saying it is to "align us with our Muslim brothers in the same level of respect for elected officials" or some such claptrap...watch and see...
