Hate to say it, but there might be no solution to the Fukishima disaster other than to continue building thousands more storage tanks in which to hold radioactive water, for several decades if not centuries.

Eventually technology will 'rescue' this ill conceived technology. Are there earthquake-proof containers? Opportunity knocks for someone.
Thorium reactors should be built and tested throughly ASAP.

Fivedollargold assumes you mean using molten salt for heat exchange in this type of reactor as opposed to water. Definitely worth investigation. Not sure if anyone is working on it beyond the theoretical stage.

Turning the radioactive liquid into a solid form (glassification) would reduce the risk of it seeping into soil, water, etc., but the sheer volume of this stuff would be a bear to handle.
