Feds: America Should Adopt ‘Plant-Based’ Diet

Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee calls for taxing dessert, ‘electronic tracking’ of time spent watching TV

The federal committee responsible for nutrition guidelines is calling for the adoption of “plant-based” diets, taxes on dessert, trained obesity “interventionists” at worksites, and electronic monitoring of how long Americans sit in front of the television.

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) released its far-reaching 571-page report of recommendations to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Thursday, which detailed its plans to “transform the food system.”

The report is open for public comment for 45 days, and will be used as the basis by the government agencies to develop the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The guidelines are used as the basis for government food assistance programs, nutrition education efforts, and for making “decisions about national health objectives.”

The push toward vegetarianism by the government is its attempt to wean us off of animals whose flatulence "contributes to global warming".

Besides we need the corn to make more sugared cereals and fat kids, to replace real food with synthetic food, and let us not forget ethanol or white lightning distilleries to destroy car engines and enrich the agricorps. Mexico imports a good deal of the US corn crop to feed turkeys which they turn into affordable ham.

So we get rid of the live stock, starve the turkeys and then go after wildlife?

Personally I would be after all those synthetic food eaters who always seem to have frog in their pocket.

And here's the 'comment' I submitted on the linked site...

“My first reaction to receiving the link to this article and request for comments brought up a lot of derogatory comments and phrases.

Upon reflection, I realized that, no matter what feedback I provide, the chances are that we're in a 'my mind's made up, don't confuse me with facts or contrary opinions' situation, but what the heck...

My personal belief is that the rules, regulations and controls that the US government and its agencies have applied or are trying to apply to the citizens of this wonderful country are doing more harm than good.

Do-gooders, nanny-staters and other bastions of Protection Of the Common Man actually believe that mandates are better than education; that control is better than free choice, even if there are hazards or dangers involved in those choices.

The apparent goal of most such organizations and their supporters is the establishment of a Completely Risk-Free Environment, Society, Life and World.

That's patently impossible, but Believers think that, by adding Enough Controls we can get Close Enough to it to Help Everyone.

My personal belief is that what is going to happen is that Personal Responsibility for our own choices and decisions is being migrated to the State, inch by inch, and the End Game is totalitarian control by omniscient, omnipotent agencies and committees with incredible power but shielded from responsibilities for mistakes and any measurements regarding their 'achievement of stated goals.'

Perfect examples in our history include Any and All agencies involved in any program with a title like "The War On..." or departments like Energy, Education, Health, Human Services, etc., etc.

No clear goals are ever stated; no benchmarks are ever established; no milestones are set nor success measurements against meeting those milestones or goals are ever published. Yet the agencies and programs suck up more and more money and grow in power and control.

I'm sorry, but the statements I've seen underlying these proposals do nothing to make me believe that this will be any different from anything I've described above or witnessed in my 69+ years living in the US.

I'd love to be wrong about this, but if any evidence exists to prove my fears unfounded, well... please let me know. I haven't seen them.”
