My thoughts today are with Ziggy, a patriot, and his wife.

In Connecticut, in the liberty circles, there is a man known as Ziggy the Flag Man.

Ziggy is an iconic figure, easily recognized at Tea Party and Liberty rallies.

He is a refugee from Kosovo.

Once Obama was elected, he immediately recognized him for who he was.

Carrying an American flag, and dressed in patriotic gear, he took to, and still takes to, the streets *each day*.

He loves this country.
He loves the idea of this country.
He is one of the many who bang the pots and pans of alarm.

He is one of the few things I miss about Connecticut.

I learned today that his wife passed away on Friday.

My thoughts today are with them both.

It is clear to Ziggy because when you live with evil you can better recognize evil. RIP Blanca and may Ziggy find the peace he needs in this time!!

She certainly was a beautiful lady. These stories always remind me of my Grandma who had a very hard time learning English. Undaunted, she studied and got her citizenship. She never stopped reminding me of how lucky I was to be born here.

Somehow it really warms my heart to see someone with a foreign accent so enthusiastically wave the American flag.
I really hate that Ziggy's wife died in her 40s. That's just too young--that adding a special sting to her loss.

Sounds like a respectable thing to miss about Connecticut. From what I hear, one of the few.

From the book of The Island of the Blue Dolphin.
"Karana begins her tale by describing the driving force of the narrative, the arrival of the Aleut ship. Karana spots the ship in the distance, and describes it first as a "shell afloat on the sea," then as a "gull with folded wings." These comparisons show how Karana blurs distinctions between reality and perception."
(Karana had never seen a ship before in her life so she did not know what she was seeing and perceived it as something she was familiar with.)
Oh god...am I making any sense? Sorry to take over your post Eud. glah.

That's because they come here to get away from it....so they recognize it when they see it because they've seen it before. If you have no concept of the existence of any given thing...you wont' know what it is when you see it. You'll try to rationalize that it's actually something that looks similar because it's the closest thing to it that you're aware of. I have a good example of this somewhere..I'll try to find it.

So sad that it takes a "foreigner" to see the evil within.
