when I click on the link it goes to the sign in page. I think that's an inside joke I need to get hip to.
Also, is there a rule of thumb on when it's appropriate to meander in posts and when it is not?

    As did my grandfather's house. The inside toilet was only for use by my grandmother. All others trotted the 100 ft to the outhouse, even in the dead of winter, and their farm was in central Minnesota! That grew my bladder to the size of a grapefruit, the Army helped me to grow it to the size of a basketball! You'll have to have been in an armored or mech infantry unit to appreciate that last comment. Race horses had nothing on us!

        Truth be told, I'm not so sure that my grandfather was much of a "gentleman" in any case. He was an "old world" Finn, and the ruler of his house. My grandmother was definitely 2nd class, but even that hierarchy had distinct "privileges." And young boys were at the bottom of the heap.

        Next to last, likely. My brother's kids still know about outhouses, for actual houses, not merely campgrounds. But they're likely the last. In my family, at least.

        Too much information for the little tykes.
        You should have seen the chaos when I picked out a lobster, and made the mistake of telling them where it was being taken to, when they asked.
        I had to change my order to Red Snapper....

        That sounds odd to me. Even in the Old World, Finland was known to be the place where, "Every man was a hero and every woman was a sorceress." Since your granddad apparently did not end up as a frog, she must have loved him a lot (and appreciated her bathroom privileges).

      Two thoughts - ironworkers learn to grow their bladders as well, often spending most of the day on the red iron. I had a city girl living with me on the mountain in Texas back in the 70`s, came home to a new one holer dug up on a ridge behind the property, complete with a seat, she was really proud of herself - till a guy showed up a couple days later really pissed, she had cut into a buried large bundled commo cable underground.

The blackened Snapper was very good, and hard to get just 'right' at home.
Lobster tails are easy.
I said 'child abuse'...not lobster abuse! ;-)
