It's not a mystery at all. It's called cronyism. The thing that should be shocking is that in this case it is so high-profile and blatant.

    So we're going to have Canadians with IRS authority to audit and harass U.S. Tax payers? What a colossal cluster. All logic has died.

    You gotta adjust the w/h or estimate payments so they aren't holding (much or any of) your funds. (Assuming its possible for you to accurately estimate and adjust, of course)

    I hadn't thought of it that way, but short of the repeal part, I LIKE it! Let them impede themselves! Unless they're holding back my tax return...

    The enemy of my enemy.
    What makes the IRS the least efficient agency possible could be a good thing.
    However, repeal of the 16th amendment and closing the IRS is much more appealing and efficient.
