This is just one more "unintended" consequence of the "welfare state" system.

Today, the WHO is apologizing for an "editing error" and saying there some (few) self inflicted cases of HIV but did not alter the report that the number of Greeks testing HIV positive has recently skyrocketed,

Thanks, jaswave, for the anchor baby post which was informative.
(Take it it was a typo to write 'principal' instead of principle.)

The problem is the low value they put on their own lives.

Snopes refutes the claim. Says it was an example and a sample out of the findings in all of Europe. Since it was an example of a few people and it was a single line taken out of context from a gargantuan report this title is pure sensationalism.

It amazes me just how naive people are about human nature. The average person will always take the easy way and will gravitate to getting something for nothing. In this case however, coming down with HIV is hardly something for nothing however it does reinforce the Darwinian influence on the gene pool. Stupid is as stupid does.....go Greece!

If it is true, that is truly horrifying. That's basically committing suicide. Only I'd say much worse. Is it equivalent to drug addicts killing themselves in the long run. Are they addicts, this kind of study is very vague at best.

I don’t know. I looked for a media release from the WHO website, and I tried to find some other source for this story. I’m not convinced it’s true. Although, if you are facing starvation, the idea that you could buy some food now, and keep your fingers crossed you won’t develop AIDS down the road...maybe.

Here is the WHO pdf report, but it is 234 pages long:

Here is the Drudge Report link (Drudge is pretty careful as to what he posts):

Omg! That’s so insane. The unintended consequences of high-unemployment and out of control spending. Hello? White House? Get a clue, dammit. Can you imagine living in the UK, and not being able to control disease because you can’t control your border because of the European Union?

We have pretty much the same problem with border control and what it's costing us. Do a google search about border city healthcare issues and the top listings will be stories about how the system is being bankrupted by illegals rushing to US hospitals to have their babie here. Not only will they stick us with the bil for services, but the kid becomes a US citizen and qualifies to get thee parents, brothers and sisters and grand parents legally into the US legally. Green card, free education, SS, welfare and all.

The 14th Amendment citizenship clause is one example where the Founding Fathers had already given us 'more for less'...and we managed to screw that up.

The 'anchor baby' loophole in that Amendment needs to be gone....

The anchor baby loophole was created by a wrong interpretation of the 14th Amendment. The amendment states that "all persons born in the United States and under the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States." Babies born to non-citizens here illegally are NOT "under the jurisdiction" of the United States according to the original intent of the 14th Amendment. But in the 1890's, involving a case concerning illegal Chinese immigrants, the court ruled wrongly that their child should be a citizen. Then, of course, there is the validity of the amendment itself. Southern states were not allowed to remove themselves from under military occupation after the Civil War unless they ratified the amendment. So, despite that they didn't like the amendment, they had to do so anyway to get back representation and get rid of the occupying yankee soldiers. If that isn't duress, I don't know what is, and it's a universal legal principal that anything done under duress is not binding. However, the Supreme Court decided not to take up the suits involving this issue, saying "it is a political question" and outside the scope of the court. HUH? That's the short story of how we got where we are today.
