"Maduro, who celebrated his 51st birthday Friday night with a serenade by Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, has called on his supporters to ignore the protests and instead join officials in a weekend-long, nationwide audit of retailers to ensure they're complying with new rules capping prices and profits.

Two weeks after Maduro ordered the military to occupy several retail chains and slash prices on refrigerators, televisions and other appliances, long lines of bargain hunters continue to form outside stores in Caracas and elsewhere. The president has vowed to use emergency decree powers granted by Congress this week to deepen the crackdown against businesses he accuses of gouging consumers and sabotaging the South American country."

This sounds like tactics Bobo would be in favor of.

I hope you're wrong too...but I doubt it. Have another SNAP snafu (shut off the food cards), and instituting martial laws will happen inside of 12 hours. Done.

I agree, he is not going to give it up, no matter if the "Paintsuited One", or anyone else, is put up by the left for next in the WH. There won't be any necessity for that once the crisis is declared and Martial Law is set in place. The "o" continues as the representative of the left and negates the Constitution or possible contender from either the left or the right. Yes, it is probably already in place and set to happen sometime in the late part of the present term. I hope I'm wrong.

I was going to ask, what end? The only way he's giving it up is if they put Frau Klinton in the drivers seat... and speaking of, how much you wanna bet that one is already pre-decided? Or will you wait until the GOP puts a weak contender up against the Pantsuitted One... I see it already coming...

I actually tried to look for some data on where they get most of their oil before commenting, but couldn't find anything solid and I know they do have places in the mountain west where they are pumping oil, but as far as the percent of what they are able to get on their own and like the article says where all the oil they use in the process comes from, who knows.

All in all though I think going through a business based in my state is preferable to me than using most of the larger gas chains. It helps they we use our Sinclair card and save $.10/gallon.

Isn't Vallero (spelling?) also owned by Venezuela? We have them dotted around here. I won't buy gas there.

Been thinking this scenario since reading excerpts from "his" books. The auto bailout didn't help my paranoia at all. Everything from then on out just added to it.

Probably not. Martial Law, etc. before the 2016 elections spurred on by another imagined crisis.

Are you talking about the extremists in the white house and congressional leadership? If so I agree,

    Re: LetsShrug,

Once again you have hit the nail on the head. It reads just like a chapter that could have easily been a part of Atlas Shrugged. In fact it was as part of the takeover attempt of Reardon Steel. the only difference is that Maduro did it with retail, but the day is young.

I assume that by BOBO you are referring to "Our Dear Leader?"

    Sounds like, but isn't.

Are your positions so weak you have to go for ad hominem attacks?

Oh well, it's what I've learned to expect from extremists.

Other Senators need to start pointing these out...calling them by name and backing up the name with facts... Loudly, in a public venue (MSNBC). NOW!

    Re: Mimi:,
If I remember correctly, it was one of Robert Kennedy's sons using his fuel subsidy organization that was a part of the plan to distribute the oil on behalf of Chavez and used it as a propaganda program.

We buy Sinclair only. Utah owned and operated. I think they get most of their oil locally as well. But I'll keep this in mind if I'm ever in a gas emergency and no Sinclair is around.
