I'm very happy to have landed in the Gulch..Idiscovered Objectivism in the library in 1967, in Waynesboro, when I had just turned 15. I had been very unhappy because I thought I could never be happy, because I was incapable of love (that is, and altruistic, unmot-ivated emotion). But the book I read,"The Virtue of Selfishness", showed me that it was an error on my part about the nature of love. So soon I was all right.
I was also very glad to find someone who
defended individual rights, which had seemed
not to be done, either by liberal or conservat-
ive politicians..

Yes, compulsory taxation is theft;not only theft, but
robbery. Government is force. Is there a justifica-
tion for force? Yes: defense against or punishment
of same. Is compulsory taxation necessary for such an agency to exist? No.It can be replaced by something like the present sales tax, but vol-
untary;if the store owner refuses, tell him that
the store's address will be put into a computer,
and, in case of a 911 call, the police will not
respond. If the store owner agrees, he gets to
put a sticker in the window, showing it is protect
ed; if not, not. This would not work unless gov't
were first cut down to its proper functions, which
are mighty few. As supplements, there could
also be lotteries, and percentages on contracts
when they are notarized, to make them enforce
able. People would be probably very willing to
pay a law enforcement fee, if the government
were small,as it ought to be, and not bleeding
the citizens dry, as it now is. As to the Federal
functions, there could be a percentage of what-
ever was in the State coffers (25%,or whatever),
and the citizen would know that when he was
paying for law enforcement, he was paying also
    for national defense.

I did not participate for a long time, due to not having a computer of my own. I had been using the public library's computers, and for a long time the libraries were closed because of the Covid virus. But they have recently opened again.
