Proof they should not be allowed out of the country. When in Rome... and if you don't, or can't, or don't want to, don't go.

    If you read down in the article [and it was clearer in the articles], MO was not wearing a scarf over her hair, which she did when they visited.....sorry, the last Islamic country they visited. She was also wearing pants, which is kind of a bad if you do [since they are a man's garment] and bad if you don't [people can see your legs].
    This was seen as an insult to Saudi Arabia.
    I think I might wear a scarf loosely draped around my neck and a bit up the back of my head, but I wouldn't wear it over my hair. The same thing, however, if I was visiting the Pope.

      They are supposed to have protocol people who explain these things, maybe they couldn't find any good Dem hacks to hire. But it is just a matter of basic respect for the country you are visiting, not approval of them.

      I know it's kind-of her job, or her husband's job, but I would have a hard time not insulting these people. They should have to be showing some effort to reform to do business with us. I know it's more complicated b/c of the need for allies, but we really wouldn't need them if we became "isolationist" in not having a huge military presence abroad. Maybe she should have not gone if she couldn't rein it in, but I'm right with her in how I feel about theocracy.

        Gets kinda complicated, in that they seem to be a family dictatorship that keeps the theocracy in their pockets to control the people. Makes life very difficult in that you always run the risk of pissing some one or another on a daily basis. Add in the fact they are one flavor if Islam, and the "other one" is hell bent on killing them as much as us, and it turns into a muddy mess.The Saud family control dates back to Post WW1, and the deal the British made for their help fighting the Germans. Britain screwed the pooch and only gave them part of what they promised and then started the slippery slide that led to Israel and Palestine.Laurence of Arabia wrote some checks that he couldn't cash....
