American Sniper compared with Birdman: The main characters could not be more different. We can and should respect the real Chris Kyle, but the narrative structuring deficiencies in both movies are similar. America is so desperate for a true war hero though, that even a badly made movie about a war hero will now do well. There hasn't been one that showed the military as good since Patton (1970).
