As Sméagol/Gollum said to Frodo in the last of The Lord of the Rings movies, "Very far to fall."

Thanks the video give me goose bumps along with a sad reflection on how far we have fallen to now elect a President like Obama

As much as I admired Reagan, I'd even settle for another Calvin Coolidge. Scott Walker seems to be the best of the current lot - consistent message, and a survivor. Rand Paul is my second choice.

prosperity soared under Reagan including stronger patent protections. those of course have been eroded and we are worse off.

When Reagan went senile, the debt doubled. Stockman was fired and that was the end of it.

    2/7:

Yes, ol’ Ronnie was a great talker & said lots of the right things … and the State increased in size, wealth, intrusiveness and power MORE during his reign than it had in previous administrations … at the expense of OUR power, wealth and freedom. Political solutions have not worked, do not work and cannot work. Politics is mere force. If our goal include lasting peace, prosperity and freedom, we need PHILOSOPHICAL solutions. Rand provided a great foundation, ‘tho still concluded with the myth that force-based Statist solutions to social problems are possible.

It took me 40 years of study, research & observation to graduate from Rand's minarchist position to the more rational voluntaryist or anarcho-capitalist win-win society concept.

    Happy Birthday Mr. President
They called you old and a fool,
    Just a clownish Republican tool.
    But, you set things right,
    Using humor and fight,
And turned out to be very cool.

Separately from the technical things Reagan did, I suspect he used a bit of Nationalism to help inspire the country as well.
This is quite contrary to the progressives that want us to apologize for our success and become like Europeans. In both of these we lose initiative.

I recall feeling so relieved to see Ronald Reagen make that little Jimmy Carter go away.
Reagan is the best president of the Twentieth Century.

If only our last 4 presidents were half the person of Regan we would be in a better position today. Not where we need to be but so much closer.
