Cat is summoned for jury duty in Boston; court rejects owners' appeal to disqualify him

I hope someone posts a youtube vid of the voir dire.

This is why my wife and I refuse to fill out anything other than the constitutional portions of the census: when the government isn't outright evil, they are outright incompetent and in both instances steadfastly convinced of their position.
Why anyone would volunteer information to them is beyond me.

In the future, a cat will not be deprived of his right to serve on a jury. If you know the science fiction of L. Neil Smith, then bionically enhanced animals are acceptable. Long ago, in the "Basic Principles of Objectivism" lectures, Nathaniel Branden answered the question of "rational Martians." Any sentient, volitional being must be accorded their rights.

(I also agree that our cat likes television --- and knows his selfish interests. He is a being of few but deep values.)

You are right, he would know what was going on. I have covered Council meetings as a reporter, where members did sleep, but voted anyway.
Maybe he should run for Congress, cats weigh things, make decisions, are not puppets.
I would love to see him on the jury.

SEND THE CAT! Geez, if they're going to be that dumb, let them reap what they sow.

A jury box often resembles a litter box now....think of the potential for commentary.

Aaaargh. Don’t bring up filling in the census. My roommate was having a heart attack about me not wanting to fill it in. He was so scared of breaking the law. I was like “What law? They are not entitled to have the answers they are asking for”

Hw won, because I felt sorry for the poor fool, but it still makes me feel ‘icky’.

yeah, my wife was afraid we'd get in trouble if we didn't fill in all the blanks... personally I'd have rather not done anything more than name.. anything beyond that is government intrusion and wrong. I know what you mean about yuck feeling after filling it out..

Well my roommate has a job with high security-clearance. The last thing he needed was me down at the federal courthouse foaming at the mouth about how none of the questions were any of their business. I felt sorry for the poor guy, Lol Speaking of...I bet they want these people to show up with the cat so they can arrest them.
