I venture to say that Maduro just wanted to to this after Obama SOTU... they are that kind of show people.

Short article by AP... key words "God will provide" -.- . That is how bad things are. Yes Maduro said that, and no, I'm not anti theist. But when the gov says that... well... God help us.

Such a message is preached ... to a bunch of numb skulls either unwilling or incapable of learning ... or both.

Perhaps the way to shorten the process up is to really point out how what the government promises just isnt delivered. We seem to let the government off the hook all the time, and at the same time cut no slack for private businesses. Its time to use the same standards for government performance

One of my best friends lived in Venezuela before leaving for America 25 years ago. She despised Chavez, but by comparison, she said Friday that Maduro makes Chavez look like a saint.

Keep waiting. It will be a very long wait. This was the reason AS was over 1100 pages long.

I am eagerly awaiting the complete collapse of Venezuela. I am amazed that the people there have put up with the stupidity of socialism for THIS long. Its scary that people shut their eyes and minds to the fact socialism just doesnt deliver what it promises

Is there any point in acknowledging a problem if you have no intention of fixing it? Maduro and Obama: Brothers from another mother.

Sounds like Venezuela is in the inevitable endgame.
My hubby works with a guy from Venezuela; his family still lives there. He must be worried sick.

I think that AS philosophy will not be understood by the majority of the people, even less in this country where say "right wing" is like an insult (although nothing that can be considered like it has governed).

If in USA lot of people don't care about those type of things, they say "hey Obama want to make new taxes for rich people, hey that's great I'm not rich, that means free things for me". Just imagine what would happen here... We are decades away in education level for people to at least try to understand Rand philosophy. (Well in fact any philosophy) This country has run for far too long in panem et circenses hosted by oil.

People is always compelled to bring their own supplies, cotton, alcohol or anything needed to be attended. At first it was only in public hospitals, but it is already happening on private clinics.

Cancer, AIDS and other diseases that need urgent medical care and/or continual treatment like a dialysis (machines have no replacement parts, and new ones are out of question) are just dying. In fact as this good are imported if the gov doesn't give foreign currency you can't buy, this situation are being well documented because is human right violation, and is considered genocide.

This just looks like the beginning of the end for another Socialist nation. Perhaps the people can figure out how to get their government out of the way? Should we send them spanish copies of Atlas Shrugged?
