Warning of dangerous chemical substance in CA

My husband bought a small knife. This warning came inside the case. I guess the State of CA wants the chemical substance to remain a mysterious secret as it is not named on the warning...only the dangerous effects. OR maybe this is a badly worded warning about the harm that the State of CA causes.
(This reminds me of a bazooka bubble gum comic wrapper I read when I was 7. "Help! I'm being held captive in a bubble gum factory!")

This warning is required by Proposition 65 (passed back in 1986), which mandates the warning of, but does nothing to curb, exposures to reproductively toxic and cancer-causing chemicals in a product or used in its manufacture, packaging, or conveyance. There is a list of the suspect chemicals at California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment website.

Yes, something hazardous. But, we can't name the substance because that might hurt somebody's feelings. Happy cancer!...

Almost every product you buy shipped to california has this warning now (based on my very limited online shopping-vitamins, technology, clothing- using a delivery address in CA.)
California residents, can you comment, please?
