My first "freedom" as I got a little older was that I was allowed to ride the bus into town (8 miles, $0.15 for a round trip ticket) to go to the movies $010 ticket 12 and under. There was a donut shop in the bus terminal and they had a sign on the wall that said "As you go through life, brother, let this be your goal, concentrate upon the donut and not upon the hole." Of all the advice I have ever been given, this has proved to be the most valuable.
