The Law is not the Law - according to this judge

One of the things that galls me about this is the open disrespect of those claiming that their rights were violated when they #1 - aren't citizens of the US and #2 - only care about being protected by the laws yet don't want the responsibility of actually abiding by them!

Moreover, $5Au finds it bizarre that Federal courts often prevent state and local officials from enforcing "Federal" laws.

It is not up to Sheriff Joe to interpret law. That is the Court's prerogative. He followed Arizona law, which is his job unless the Court or Arizona legislature says otherwise.

The rights of people in the US are derived from Natural Rights which all human beings have by birth, regardless of where they are born.

I agree. Something else to consider is the only reason hiring a non-US citizen is a problem is because of the individual income tax & social security tax. It is the government that has the problem with it and neither of these taxes should exist. I also don't believe we would have a big problem with people coming across the border for work if people got to keep all of their money and therefore could afford to work in some of the lower paying jobs that people cross the border to do.

Arizona's best argument is the US is not securing its borders. So the State has to take steps to secure its borders.
IF we step out to the big picture, I take issue with many people who are quite happy to have a maid they do not know is illegal or not, pay her in cash every week, or hire the cheapest bid on the roof and overlook that most of the roofers do not speak any english, and then be outraged at undocumented workers. I'm more worried about illegals NOT working. 2. it was unConstitutional in the first place to put the burden of proof of undocumented status on the business. That is making the business an arm of the government. That is wrong. 3. I have a problem with raids on businesses in the first place for many reasons. I think it should rarely happen and I do not see most businesses as threats to a state's sovereignty. Most people coming to the US are looking for work. Their motives are noble.
I am not saying that I am not frustrated about the illegal immigration problem. Or that I think our Congress and President have handled the situation well. But Sherriff Joe doin a bunch of "raids" on businesses is unproductive. They chill businesses from doing any hiring and the illegals deported will be back
