The Republicans have definitely shifted over the years. The Democrats are far left and most Republicans lean left. Not much of a choice for those of us who are Objectivists.

A bit of both I think. From what i have studied of history ( please correct me if I am wrong, history teacher was not the most reliable) i think the party began with pretty good views but slowly began shifting. Since I have been alive I think the party has gone from being moderate to bordering on being on the left in attempt to gain support and votes. Again please correct me if I am wrong.

There used to be a difference between Democrats and Republicans, not so much any more.

We need the numbers to change the rules that make the rise of additional meaningful party's almost impossible. The US should have no less than 5 political parties and we should have run-offs almost every election. This is how you represent significant number of diverse free thinking people.

In the RNC/GOP it never has been ours. They have been crushing states rights and individual liberty in favor of corporatism since their inception. Barry Goldwater was a rebel conservative, and look at what happened to him. Reagan had the advantage of following Carter's total failure, and even he was sabotaged from within. While I agree with your sentiment, I can't predict meaningful success. As long as the rank and file keep voting for the one party system, government dictatorship will continue to grow more powerful.
    Starvation might change that.

    GOP, more like the RNC.

Based on the last election a culture of independence fomenting in this country. Unfortunately, the Establishment is deeply rooted into the RNC and a fair number of new voices in government is not enough to manifest constructive change. BOhner should have fallen...we have to keep voting in people until the numbers are so overwhelming the tune sung by the RNC and the US government is once again ours..

When OFFERED the opportunity, citizens will vote for a candidate that respects their sovereignty. The RNC and their recent anointed choices for POTUS have all come from the crony capitalist (a.k.a. aristocracy of pull) wing of the party. The country club conservative east coast types. They were all clearly better than our current self-proclaimed king. But look who won in landslide victories across the country in the local, state and federal elections. Candidates who ran on a conservative, personal responsibility, pro capitalist platforms. The RNC ran against these platforms in the primaries. The most repugnant was the run off senate race in Mississippi between Sen Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel.

Rush has put the spotlight of truth on this failure by the RNC to see the value in conservatism, personal responsibility and a limited government that actually accepts the separation of powers governed by the U S Constitution.
    Cheers

A few of us do greedily protect our independence. Many people don't notice their independence disappearing. Finally, the moochers are more than willing accomplices to the looters to make themselves and us less independent.

Most Americans are not conservative because a) the safety net is a hammock, b) bad behavior is bailed out, c) entrepeneurial behavior is punished and reviled, and d) as Rush says, liberalism is an easy choice.

He's obnoxiously arrogant but he's usually on point. Why wouldn't most Americans be conservative?

I can't disagree. The RNC is so fixated on its own agenda and consolidating power that they ignore their voting base time and again. They elevate only those RINOs who follow their orders, very much like the Ds did when they controlled all three branches.
