For New Year's Eve 2014... a milquetoast!

A new work from Papa Possum.

Enjoy, or not.

--------------------

A Milquetoast
(for New Year's Eve)

A ramble for this New Year's eve
to make resolute by,
how each organization old
allows itself to die,
how old guards stubbornly lock arms
for turn each at the throne
'til the young bulls, “Why bother?,” ask
and strike forth on their own,
how think old not on mentorship
as legacy most true,
but on the threat new talents pose
to their place in the queue.

This New Year in rings constancy
of corruption despite
the congress changing out its lead
from hard left to not-right:
the marxist globalists retreat
to further treasons scheme
as crony globalists drag out
stale “kinder, gentler” theme
to fritter on each crisis edge,
surrender, then to gloat,
and, as we steam for the abyss,
to not dare rock the boat.

They'll Constitution read aloud,
Boehner will shed a tear
then politic as usual,
young bulls exiled to rear.
McCain will plump his “mav'rick” claim
as proved by compromise
with marxists, not with the young bulls
his old guard all despise.
McConnell will revoke the rules
Reid forced to force his will,
then naïvely expect good faith
from marxists poised to kill.

The fires burning this New Year
are cities marxists lit,
while cops lie dead from rhetoric
venomous marxists spit,
while unemployed and unfree see
how we've been global scammed,
still each old guard must have his turn,
ev'rything else be damned.
Yes, despite overwhelming vote,
the left will still live large,
so raise your glass in this milquetoast,
“The GOP's in charge!”

Their conga line will dance 'til death,
our abyss looming large,
and so this New Year's Eve milquetoast,
“The GOP's in charge!”

Excellent! But then, we've grown accustomed to that.

Happy New Year to Papa and all the possum clan.

    very fine, sir;;; Thank You!

this old-guard ascendancy to the front of the line,
in the establishment GOP, is like olympic skating
scoring -- you can't get the top score unless you
have BOTH done very well AND served your time. -- j

I thought I'd spell Papa Poppa in order to differentiate, but to no avail. I cannot help myself, I just really love Ol' Papa Possum.

    Thank you, allosaur.

I read Kipling and realize what a hack I actually am.
But keep reading, as long as there are idiots in D.C., I'll keep writing.

    Dear Poppa:
I hope you don't mind it when I wax poetic with my poesy but you inspire the artiste in me.

With laser beams of burning thought,
P.P. strikes at fools who not do right, as aught.
A toast to valor, freedom and right,
Would reveal the toaster's fear and flight.
So thanks dear Poppa, you don't need spies,
To open up those sleepers eyes.

Euda, I'm jealous. I can be acid sarcastic but you can put acid sarcastic to passionate poetry.
I went to your site so I could hear you recite--
    (? did I just rhyme?)
    --Milquetoast while I read along.
When you hit that bit "--congress changing out its lead from hard left to not-right--" I let out a whoop of laughter.
Sadly, it was a whoop of hard cynical laughter.
Is that all an old dino Constitutional Libertarian like me has left to do?

I enjoyed the "milquetoast". Since you have moved to Cheyenne, have you seen the John Galt Line yet?
