I Am Rich and Liberal. What Can I Do?
Editorial by

Since 2008, there has been a lot of talk about "Fair Share", the One Per-centers, Warren Buffet complaining about not being taxed enough, Hollywood elite expending a lot of air-time talking about how unfair it is the "rich" have so much, and need to be taxed more.
During all these conversations, editorials and coverage, I began to think well, since the Government has already established tax laws, and accountants follow these rules, those different forms of income are and will continue to be taxed at the rates set forth by t he House Ways and Means Committee, the group that writes the IRS codes.
But what if I am an ultra rich person, with a liberal mindset, who feels guilty about all the money I have and want to give more to the government than what I am mandated to pay.
Well fear not. I am going to help all of those who think they do not pay their fair share and want to resolve that issue annually. My grandfather always said put your money where your mouth is, so here is YOUR means to do just that.

Oprah who is worth a whopping 2+ billion and supported President Obama in his runs for office, can certainly afford to send in to the Government a billion or so, after all how much money does she need, vs. all the poor starving kids in this country who do not have two parents, or good schools and do not enjoy the privilege she does.
Our president talks all the time about the rich paying their fair share. What better group to take advantage of the above links than the Hollywood Elite as well as the liberal politicians like Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. With all the money they have, I am hoping they will all just send in money to the Federal Government. I am hoping that the President and his wife will send in a lot themselves.
Stop talking about people not paying their faire share, here is the tool where YOU can put your conviction where it counts. Send in all your money to the government. They make it easy too, you can use your credit/debit card.
So before you tell someone else they are not paying enough. Send in YOUR money and lead by example. Only then can you justly complain about someone else not paying what you feel is "Their Fair Share."

What can a rich liberal do? All of them put together could not do squat about this puppy created by libs and RINOs alike.
Fiscal conservatives have nothing to do with it.
They shall also suffer, though, when the economy collapses.

As Warren Buffet and the IRS scandal prove, liberals don't want to raise taxes on themselves, they want to use them as weapons against those they do not like.

If any congressman was serious about raising revenue they would simplify the tax code significantly and lower the rates significantly, but then they could not hand out favors for donations.

Doesn't work anymore. I've got a post or comments on another thread about my own county which runs 2 golf courses, a taxi service, and an old age home. And we are one of the more conservative counties in the state - yet nobody on the county board sees a problem with those things (nor seemingly the residents).

I hate that old bag (Elizabeth Warren). It's really amazing how the libs will be drawn like moths to the light and for a conservative, the same rhetoric is like kryptonite.

Could be. We need some real old school leadership in Croneyville. A couple of examples, might start people listening, if they can get press.

Sure they should. But since the Depression, we've been headed in the opposite direction. Maybe longer - I think it began with the direct election of Senators. Now every election is an auction, with candidates competing to see who can offer voters more of someone else's stuff.

I'm not certain we *can* turn it around at this point. We may have gone too far down that path.

I see why it won't happen for progressive dems, but smarter republicans should love it.

I find it amazing that so many people think, oops, what a misnomer, assume they know what is everyone else should do, but as the post states, they should really stop the noise and send the money to the gov't and leave my money alone!

All these rich liberals can give some of their money to me. I'll gladly accept without any guilt.

If you give a man a fish, you can count on his vote for the rest of his life. If you teach a man to fish, you run the risk that he might start thinking for himself and begin to take some pride in his independence.

    See why that won't happen?

stay rich and become an objectivist, that will take time but if you were the source of earning your money you must be bright and if that is the case you should become an objectivist relatively quickly. of course that will entail reading all of Ayn Rand's books.so get started!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on, don't you know that all these people are hypocrites. They don't want to pay more but they want everybody else to pay more. Look at what happened at Harvard with insurance. All the faculty backed O and his infamous healthcare program. However, now they are up in arms because the healthcare premiums went up. Oh the hypocrisy. Remember the progressive way, it is good for the masses but not for the elite.

You need to realize that your wealth didn't come on your own merits. Other people made you that money, so you don't deserve it. Therefore you need to find all kinds of causes to champion with your ill-gotten gains - and we'll be happy to suggest to you which ones.

    Cordially,
    Liberals

Right! We should be able to easily make do with a lot less if the US Government decided to become 1) more efficient, and 2) we worked on teaching a man to fish, instead of giving a man a fish.

Those "gifts" only affect his future estate tax liability. They have nothing to do with his income tax liability, and do not reduce his taxable income for the year.

The irony is there is NOTHING illegal about what Buffet does or anyone who takes advanatage of the IRS tax avoidance options.

Obama himself annually gifts $12,000.00 per year to each of his daughters which he naturally deducts from his tax liability, so as far I am can see Obama is not paying his fair share either, and continually demonstrates his total hypocrisy.

What Buffett never says when shilling for higher taxes is that his company, Berkshire Hathaway, has NEVER paid dividends, he accepts only a relatively modest salary of $100,000/year, and he doesn't sell shares, so he pays no capital gains tax. Moreover, he's leaving the major part of his estate to Bill Gates' foundation. Thus, he legally avoids paying "his fair share." There is a lot to admire about Buffett, but his tax proclamation is not one of them.

Perhaps this is just shakedown speech. If the rich won't donate more to our campaigns we will threaten them with tax increases. It has the added benefit of galvanizing the poor, who have nothing to donate, behind the party of handouts.

It's not about the liberals paying their "fair share." It's about them controlling others.
