Maybe that distribution arrangement had not been made when the physical distribution was announced.

If its that important to you contact them about your dvd order to cancel it and do the stream instead.

If it's an American DVD it probably won't play in an Australian player. You may have to buy the streamed version anyway.

20th Century Fox owns the DVD/Blu-ray distribution rights. As such they set the street dates for the film's release in each medium.

Ben - can you send me a private message letting me know your full name and what level you contributed at or what goodies you should have received and I'll look into it for you. If it was the DVD, that will ship around January 4th.

I didn't say I was harmed. Only that I already bought a license to the movie, but that license won't arrive until after Jan 1.
Yes, steaming makes it available to people sooner. Which is why I would have preferred that option back in November when I early ordered the DVD.
My only real gripe is, the DVD sale, and video streaming should have been announced at the same time. Just like people prefer eBooks over physical books, I would have preferred the Streaming option over the disc. Now, I have a disc that won't arrive for nearly a month, and I don't have the streaming option unless I pay twice.
I think that's a valid gripe. Most video distributions, squeeze the disc sales as much as they can before releasing the video to stream. That wasn't the case here. They announced the DVD, and then they released the stream before they shipped the DVD.
Where was my value, or incentive for pre-ordering? There wasn't. I would have been rewarded by waiting because I would have gotten to see the movie before those that waited for the DVD to arrive, and I would have saved money because the streaming option was cheaper then the disc option.

Speaking of the Atlas Shrugged movie etc, whatever happened to the Kickstarter campaign? I kicked in some money but have not received the goodies.
As for the signed cells etc, all of these are in my collection of historical documents and relevant literature including One Hundred Year Leap etc. Someday my great grandkids will read these is awe.

I didn't say that it harmed me, and I'm not the one complaining. But I understand those who feel slighted by not having the options communicated ahead of time so that they could make an informed decision.

For me, my Blu-Ray arrived on Wed and I'm one happy camper ;-)

You didn't answer the question Robbie.

    How does it harm you?

You do not have to pay for the streamed version unless you choose to. It is simply another option added for everyone. Expecting it to be free, is not rational, server space and bandwidth all cost money.

So choose it or not as you will, but I am glad they took the step to add this option for people that want to exercise it.

How does this harm the value you acknowledged by purchasing the physical copy?

You will, or already have gotten, your physical copy. Streaming it makes it available to more people sooner, including you.

After all the biggest complaint initially, was having to wait so long, this addresses that.

I'm not sure who the "they" is in your scenario. I think Atlas Productions probably sells the rights to distribution to another company. They may not be calling all the shots or choosing the timing.

I didn't order the Bluray because I don't have a bluray player. Unkless it was signed by Reagan, I didn't see a real value in a signed copy. I really didn't want to own the physical DVD because I would have rather just been able to stream it. But, It appeared as though the DVD would be available before the streaming ability so, I purchased it because I wanted to see the movie. Fewer and fewer people have physical video libraries.
I agree this needs to be viewed by the masses, however, I will not buy it for them. I've done that before only to see the look of moocher in their eyes afterwards wondering if I had anything else to watch. The ones that would appreciate, are already buying a copy.
The point being, in a few months, the streaming version will be available for rent, they could have done that now, OR, they could have provided a means for those that already ordered it, to stream it for free now. It's just sort of crappy that they put the bluray out before the DVD, and then after pre-orders, put the stream out before shipping the DVD.

robert, whoa. I see you're disappointed, but there was no promise given to you that the movies would not be streamed. Personally, I very much wanted my signed copy of the movie in my hand. But I am streaming it tonight :) I haven't seen it yet. I have been waiting a long time too

Got mine this week. Sprung for the signed version with film cells. Am I an idiot?

Now hosting watchings of all three with my buddies. So many people with these views are unaware of the movie and ideas.

I bought 2 copies. 1 to keep and one to share the message. I hope they get rich off this so they will make more. We must keep this message moving.

Yes, it's a shame. Technically, we already own a license to view it, so we should be able to stream it for free now.
Perhaps we should contact the N.Korean's and see if they can pirate us a copy.
This proud micro-producer is feeling screwed.
