It worked for Spain. In the late 1400's and early 1500's they made everyone eat pork in public to prove they weren't a secret Muslim. Kicking them out with force helped also though.

If everything were wrapped in pork or cooked in pork grease we'd have a lot less interaction with muslims and, as a consequence, a lot less savagery and oppression.
