Owing to the fact that they did not have to worry about re-election and did not need the favors/contributions of crony contributors or fear their retribution... Alas, those days seem just to be a fond memory of when politicians had an ounce of integrity. Perhaps it was just a dream... now, more often a nightmare.| Permalink
