Serial down voting

I have noticed this morning that someone is serially down voting a Producer, never stating why they disagree with the comment or adding anything to the discussion.

Whoever you are...grow a pair of balls and quit hiding behind your mouse coward.

too bad the votes don't work like in FB "likes" where you can see who "liked" something.

Personally, I never down-vote. I either up-vote if I agree with something (or approve of the logic that went into formulating an argument, even if I believe that I have rational information to reinforce my conviction even in the face of this rebuttal.) If a comment seems rational but misinformed, for instance, I am likely to merely comment on it. Usually by the time I get to read the comments, someone has already preceded me with a comment that more or less sums up my views on something. So for the most part, I become a "serial up-voter" rather than choosing to offer commentary.

    Ok, I'll stop.....NOT!
Really, like Suzzane said, points are meaningless, but anyone who takes the time to do something like that is really in need of a real life..like counting sealion poo piles or something....

Not according to the guidelines. Up votes should be for finding something interesting (whether you agree or not), and down voting should be for spam (obviously not appropriate). There's nothing about agreement or not.

That's pretty much what I think the voting is for. If somebody's post gets dropped to -5 or -10 or worse, that person should think twice about posting that view (or maybe should explain himself better). If somebody starts getting big minus scores on ALL his posts, he should get the message that most of us consider him a troll, and should go away.

Agreed. The reigning goal behind Objectivism is the discovery of Truth. That means that any and all who come here should be willing to challenge their beliefs and hypotheses and be willing to reaffirm or readjust based on new evidence.

It is okay to disagree, but one can make a point without being disagreeable or intentionally offensive. This is a forum for ideas and everyone should be more interested in the truth than in being right. Name-calling should never be condoned or engaged.

I've seen this a few times... An admin was able to help the victim in at least one case. Definitely agree that hiding that kind of thing is cowardly.

I like "mouse coward". It obviously defines a person who is hiding behind his anonymous (but all powerful) mouse the same way, in older times, a young bully might have hidden behind mama's skirts.

I think we should make it a term.

    Jan, not a mouse coward

Oops! I forgot to ID my evil twin as Comrade Citizen, who calls other people the same. Save for the above slip-up, you always see him coming.

Apparently the actions of a rather immature control freak who hides out behind a keyboard... the points really don't mean squat - I *know* who produces insight and value here, and who pollutes the board with the schlock and whiny moochist drivel...

Be that as it is, let me say this...

Hiding behind a keyboard, playing "point commando" against someone, is a trick employed by pre-adolescent pimply faced jerks. It's like making multiple sock puppet accounts, and doing a one person group attack against someone. It makes the immature gloat with self importance, and makes those of us over the mental age of 3 shake our head and realize what a loser this sock market commando really is.

For the most part, all you have to do is track who's on line as we watch the sock commando ply their trade. Or have an admin account, which makes it easier. But honestly - children like that aren't worthy of my time, talent, or treasure. That's why I don't mod the other boards anymore... I have way more productive things to do than play cop to someone with a preschool mentality and a keyboard.
