    I read both articles. First of all I would like to comment that both guns she owns are great choices. The .357 and glock .40 are great home defense knock down guns. Kudos to her. Second, as someone who buys and sells around 20 properties a year I can say first hand that the accessors can be real pricks. I get calls for months after I have sold my properties with them nosing around to try and get another shekel out of me after the property tax have already been paid.

    One another note, did you see the mention that she is Jewish. It was very prominent especially in the other article. I think for the most part how this was discussed in this article was appropriate, but it made me think how quick someone on the other side would have simply claimed racism if this was a black person or another ethicity. In this case she did not hide behind her race or religion as a reason for being harassed but simple said she was denied her constitutional rights. Just a thought

      I've used both, but really like the heft of the .357.

      She did not play up at all her religion, only to say that a man is not allowed into her home when her husband is not there. Interesting bit of background regarding her parents, as well.

        If you like heft, have you ever shot a .44 magnum? Fun gun. Get at least a 6" barrel though. A 1911 Colt .45 acp,is always a standard "go to" gun for home defense. As they say, you only need one bullet. It's the reason my it has been the standard US military gun since 1911 (for those of you those are enthusiasts, you know that currently the marines still use the 1911 while others armed forces switched to Beretta 9mm during the 90's)

          Yes, I have. I definitely would rather have a med to lg frame. The 1911's are pretty nice!

            I agree with the 1911 being the 'go-to' gun for home defense. But, for concealment, especially in hot weather, concealing your 'go-to' gun, (1911) is a bit hard to do. That's why your alternative back up, should be something easily concealable. Like the .45 Long Colt/.410 gauge Bond Arms Derringer. :) You're guaranteed not to miss if you're shooting .410 gauge!

              Oh, absolutely! "'Scuse me while I whip this out"! The large frames aren't really all that concealable, are they? Thanks for the recommendation, though. I can test out different models at the local range, see what I like.

                To conceal my full-size 1911, I have a Crossbreed IWB "Supertuck" deluxe holster. Check it out when you can. It does a really good job on concealing it and once you break the holster in, is very comfortable. I got the horsehide one.

                The issue arises when the weather gets hot. You don't want to lug around all that steel on the beach do you? That's why I like the Bond Arms derringers: small, can fit inside a pocket. Single action, so no fear of the thing going off inside your pocket. There are smaller guns too, with smaller calibers. When it comes to "diversity", this is the only time I agree on "celebrating" because there are some many different kinds of guns to choose from. Shop around!

                  I like the ability to open carry where I live. When people see that .357 strapped on they aren't going to screw with you. I'm still thinking of best options for concealed carry. That .357 gets heavy in the purse. Even though I'm a very good shot I like the options of more than 1 shot, and prefer the knockdown power. Nothing like jacketed hollow points.

                    My better half has a Ruger .327 Federal Magnum. I believe the numbers are 20% more knock-down power than a .38 special with 1/3 less recoil than a .357. 1300 feet per second! Federal goons need to think twice before Door Busting into my place. If I'm not secure in my own home, I'm safe nowhere.
