“YOU WANT TO (EXPLETIVE) RESIST?” NY Deputy Attacks Man For Refusing Search Over Legal Gun - Bearing Arms

Very disturbing. I do wonder what the provocation was that promoted this encounter. The "officer" should have gotten the warrant if he "had to" investigate the rifle. The fact that he conducted himself this way knowing that he was being filmed speaks volumes to this delusion to his role as a police officer. Unless there is some serious reason for his conduct, I hope he is not only fired, but criminally charged and has his pension revoked.

Charges - well yeah they gotta do something.
Conviction - maybe, if it's still news, but probably not.

Check back in a year and he'll still be a cop somewhere.

Was this deputy delusional or was he merely following orders? We live in a country where Government at all levels is actively engaged in the destruction of our Constitution, civility, and the law. He was taught that he is the law.,

And that's the issues, isn't it? We have so many politicians, police officers, lawyers, and rich kids who know they are above the law. How do you punish a person who can trade political favors or has enough cash to buy their way out of punishment?

I will admit going into this comment that I am no fan of the police, as I think this kind of behavior is commonplace among their ranks.

I am going to intentionally skip any commentary of the police sergeant that slapped the kid and threatened the guy with the camera, as you can all see and hear what he did and make your own judgment on his behavior as I have.

More interesting to me is the 2nd cop on the scene who doesn't say or do a single thing to stop the sergeant when he does what he did. You always hear in cases like this that there are always a few bad apples in every bunch, and that you shouldn't judge the rest of the police by the actions of a few. I couldn't disagree more. I just the majority of cops by their inaction in cases like this as much as I do with the active measures they use. If one cop assaults a citizen without justifiable cause, that cop is a criminal. When another cop(s) stands there with a thumb up his ass doing nothing at all to stop it, then they are aiding and abetting the assault making himself a criminal as well.

Also, let's be honest. If this encounter hadn't been video/audio recorded, it might as well never have happened. Both cops would lie through their teeth in their reports, and no jury in the land would ever question the veracity if these scumbags. You'd have a police sergeant with many years of service's word versus some punk kid who was resisting. Any sort of beating, arrest or jail time would be judged as completely legal by police supervisors and any jury of that kid's peers without this video/audio evidence.

At a bear minimum, BOTH cops ought to be fired, and the sergeant ought to be prosecuted. In all likelihood, though, nothing of any consequence beyond a little YouTube embarrassment and a token suspension will result. Unless/until that kid is beaten into a coma caught on HD video from 3 separate angles with studio quality sound, any sort of civil lawsuit with money damages against the officer or his department is never going to happen.

I was thinking that the civil suit, if this youngster should pursue it, should be won by the youngster!!! Will the officer be prosecuted??? Highly doubtful.. Suspended with pay, probably!! We are talking about NY!!!!!!

I like the way that gutsy kid was smiling into the camera at the end of the video. He had already been soundly slapped. And I mean soundly.
If he was just contemplating YouTube fame, that's OK by me. The kid sure isn't the one who is a coward. Bullies with a badge need to be exposed.

And that second deputy did NOTHING to stop the abuse! That was wildly illegal, and they both should be fired without their pensions. Good for that young guy for knowing his, and ALL of our rights!

The video shows that there was a second cop. While the second cop did not himself commit similar acts (apparently), he was a witness to illegal acts of his partner and did not interfere or arrest his partner. Shouldn’t the second cop be fired for dereliction of duty?

This is the perfect example of the visibly bad cop. Add to that, the ones who are not so openly bad. However, I truly believe that these men are the exception. I know too many good, dedicated police officers to think that a king-sized jerk like this is the rule.

Law enforcement employees these days don't follow the law because they're in the habit of ignoring the law and making it up on their own. They have been doing their jobs by intimidation and threats of force. In other words, the only real difference between cops and criminals is, the cops have badges.

No surprise here. It is in the liberal enclave of NY, where the governor took away the citizens 2nd Amendment rights of all.
Another state I'll never visit again.

Besides being wrong in some many ways, the officer makes no sense. If he thinks he has the right to search the car without the owners' permission, he should do it. The courts will decide later if it was justified. If he needs consent, it makes no sense to slap and yell at someone demanding they says yes. If he beat him hard enough, maybe he would say "yes" but that "yes" would be meaningless. He could pull out his gun and say "say yes or I'll shoot." That's not consent. Just skip asking, search the car, and let the supervisors and courts decide if it was legal. It's completely illogical.

The cop was not interested in "public safety;" he was interested in being in charge. This is a bully that realized early in life that he can get away with a lot of crap if he wears a badge and a government-issued weapon. These are the brainless little pr*cks that like to expand beyond their abilities.

are we not looking at police who have let their
power go to their heads? some folks just cannot
handle power;;; it corrupts their thinking.

like BHO and Jarrett. -- j

Bad, bad stuff. Yet another bullying police officer.

Seems like there are some that are very good, and some that are in the job to be in charge. Not some many just in the middle. However, the police should police their ranks for identify and get rid of guys like this.
