So If You Were Republican Leadership, What Would Be Your First Actions To Take?

I thought it would be fun to see how gulcher's would prioritize the Republican Agenda starting in January. I'll start-
The house needs to defund the IRS until it cleans house, hands over documents requested by the Senate Intelligence committee and fire alot of people who were in any way involved in these scandals against conservative groups.. Someone needs to dust off that flat tax bill . De-fund the NSA. We don't need it. Defund the EPA until they stop the war on coal, the war against american citizens, and fire all the top decision makers in the organization. Next!

I cannot see how the "new" congress can be expected to initiate any drastic proposals when they convene in January. I believe that the most effective path would to return to the business of the people and conduct themselves as our representatives were intended. They should prepare and pass a balanced budget that they are prepared to implement and fund. It does not seem to matter if the Executive Branch likes it or not if they do their job and control the purse strings as intended. It is not the purpose of the Executive to pass or fund legislation, but to implement it.

Obviously, the House will have to make some hard decisions and prioritize where funds will go and to propose tax increases as necessary. ( I would like to see corporate income taxes abolished since consumer-taxpayers pay them anyway and we need to see the cost of government not have it hidden in the cost of goods we purchase.) The Senate should deliberate on these measures and reach agreement with the House. The electorate should be allowed to see the process and be as informed as they desire to be in the details.

We the people have asked that they do this on our behalf and we should demand that they do this diligently and with our oversight. Seeing this, for the first time in many years would make us believe that these people were doing their job of protecting our rights and greatly increase our faith in government.

My simple mind cannot begin to fathom all the details and complexity of the Federal Government but I don't think they can either. That doesn't have to be the case if they decide what they want, can afford and are willing to be accountable for. Let the rest languish for cleanup in future deliberations.

Where did you get the idea that Republicans are better than Democrats? They both like a large government with control of everything.

And repeal everything else that's been done under Obama's administration and most of Bush's. If we don't take the country back from the normal political class at this point, it'll never come back.

Nonsense, go on the attack. This has gone way past political gamesmanship in the last 14 years. If we don't take this opportunity as citizens and representatives of those citizens to resoundedly say 'Enough', we lose. The country is gone at that point.

Politicians in general and particularly Federal politicians don't dare let the public find out how easy it was for Obama to game the system.

Step 1. Repeal all of Obamacare.
Step 2 Initiate Impeachment of Obama.

Immediately pass a national requirement to show ID to vote. Second, start scrubbing voter roles for dead and otherwise ineligible people.

Yes I agree. There are just so many things to repeal that it is easy to forget how much crap has actually been been enacted in recent years.

Mandatory review of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and their Oaths of office. I believe too often they mouth the words without comprehension. Then offer a bill that anyone authoring a bill found to be in contradiction to those founding documents by 25% of either House or Senate should have their privilege to offer bills or amendments suspended for a period of six months. Second offense one year suspension and tar and feathers. :) De-fund/rescind all executive orders not directly related to enhancing the security of the nation and still congruent with the Constitution. Pass a bill that restricts all executive orders to same and include similar sanctions. Abolish the IRS and all other Federal agencies in conflict with the Constitutional protections of the citizens or within the enumerated powers. I could go on, but that should keep everyone busy for a day or two. Return responsibility and thus sovereignty to the states.

One other thing I think I would do is under the national debt clock in Washington DC and New York I would place another clock that counts down the days until Barack Obama leaves office.

Repeal the federal reserve act and close down the TBTF banks. Forgive (tax-free) all the outstanding loans made by those banks in the past 50 years to individuals and small businesses.
Take the military from Iraq, Afghanistan, et al, and assign them duty to protect the lower-48 US borders.

I prefer disband. If it's just defunded, in 2 years it's easy to refund. Disband all this unconstitutional bureaucratic, regulatory nonsense. If it's disbanded it's harder to put back together again.

It would take someone with extremely firm principles to vote themselves a smaller budget, less power, and ultimately a smaller paycheck. Republicans are better than Democrats, but sadly, I'm not very hopeful.

I think we have to be careful on the short-term that we are not labled obstructionist. You know Obama is going to take that position. We owe it to the public to put a bill on the presidents desk that will repeal portions if not all of Obamacare. Pass XL pipeline Boarder security is important too. I would put bills on his desk that are good and let the President vetos them so the public can see who is the real party of No. One bill a week would be nice and then start moving into tax reform and limit the IRS. I would also start investigations into corruption we believe we can win. We have to think about things that can pass too. There maybe some Dems who view Obama as toxic and may be inclined to vote with conservatives. i.e.XL If we get to 54 seats its only 6 dems needed for an override. We also need to look at safeguards that will prevent the President from circumventing the consitution and using it to destroy the country from within. Obama has laid the blueprint for some other Maxist who might be president someday and use our own laws agains us. This cannot be allowed. We can not have a department of Justice that is political. Possible when Eric Withholders replacment is named we can address this issue in confirmation hearings. There are so many issues we need to address. Thats when is going through my mind at the moment. I reserve the right to revisit this after I get some sleep after staying up all night watching and being at election events.
