I can't believe I'm agreeing with Chucky Schumer on something, but whomever in the TSA made the decision to allow pocket knives on board should be fired pronto. Then fire his or her boss, and so on. Oh yeah, where is LESS THAN ZERO on this one? By the way, Chuckie, you can always write legislation to overturn the TSA's decision. That IS one of the perks of your job. In addition to making speeches and standing behind Reid, you get to introduce bills in the Senate.

    It's all in the small print. This initiative was intended as a below the radar effort to grow the Swiss economy - part of the Administrations effort to undermine ours. Anyway, the rollout was to have the TSA purchase a huge amount of Wenger or Victorinox Classic Army utility knives, limit their sale to airport gift shops, and of course, require all passengers to buy one or be denied boarding. Profits would go towards a new TSA mohair uniform initiative and to underwrite the production costs and distribution of Swiss manufactured SIG assault weapons to all Swiss citizens, thereby supporting another Administration goal of arming the rest of the world, while disarming America. Really; any stupider than Solyndra?

    There should be no TSA. Security should be handled privately by each airline. The Air Marshall program is as far as the gov't involvement should go. I support with equal vigor all of the constitution including the 4th amendment. Profiling works better and is preferable to violation of all.

    I'm disagreeing with you on this one. I'd much rather let people have the freedom to carry on the pocket knives. This is almost the same argument as concealed carry. Would you rather the terrorists be assured that their victims are disarmed? The better answer to airplane security, IMO, is secured cockpit door and armed pilots.

    TSA = Thousands Standing Around

    I hate flying now because of TSA. I have to do a major preflight to make sure I remember to take my pocket knife out of my pocket and my Swiss Arm knife out of my purse, along with my nail clippers and all but 1 pen, no safety pins or anything resembling a pointy thing.

    They planted box cutters, not pocket knives. Pocket knives were allowed when they planted the cutters. Confiscating pocket knives from elderly old men, who ALWAYS have a Swiss pocket knife on them out of habit, isn't helping anything. If First Class can have a fork...I want a knife. I'm not dangerous, but I would like to be able to defend myself if Alec Baldwin goes off on a nut or if someone is coming at me with a fork, or a box cutter. (Wait...box cutters aren't allowed...they never were.) Hmmmmmm.
