    I am very happy with the Democrat bloodbath that they so justly earned. I just wish it was worse! I do not, however, think that Happy Days are Here Again because Republicans are just a more fiscally responsible version of big government bureaucrats. They also bring along a bag of freedom limiting, religion based, social issue ideology that liberals don't bother with.

    The good news is that the Dems have created such a toxic environment for business that the Republicans will need to spend most of their efforts undoing that mess instead of intruding on individual rights. Turning the energy industry loose, reforming the corporate tax laws, reduction of stupid regulation in the name of global (cooling, warming, climate change or whatever is the term of the day). The greatest force in history has been the Free Market that was turned loose after the Civil War and just cracking the door from time-to-time has unleashed frightening power and the creation of wealth. Even a token of actions to that end could solve a lot of problems that we face today. To central planners this is too scary but in our desperate state, we might accidentally let go a little. If it happens, then I will sing.

      Good points. Despite their shortcomings Republicans still offer a better alternative to a part hell bent on destroying American. Lets hope Republicans make the most of governing with the values we cherish.

        Everyone was eager to work out what to do with all the extra money. Did they use dollar bills as a prop in the debate? $1 to pay down debt, $1 to shore up SS, $1 for tax cuts, unless there's some kind of unexpected event, which _never_ happens in the normal course of history. I knew right away they were going to blow that surplus on something. I wasn't worried about how the investment markets would handle all those Treasuries being retired.

        Are you talking about the balanced budget portrayed in a snapshot taken at the peak of the dotcom bubble when tax revenues increased faster than even our drunken sailors could spend it? The subsequent crash and the expensive response to 911 certainly were unfortunate and the Bush administration did not offset the expenditures with increased taxes or spending cuts during what they thought was an emergency. I attribute the resultant budget deficits to failings other than just lack of fiscal responsibility and have no desire to defend them.

    Let's hope that national politicians learn something from the victory of Scott Walker in Wisconsin. He did the hard things (standing up to powerful public sector unions) and survived not only a re-election, but a recall election. The Dems poured everything they could into trying to get him defeated, and failed - twice. I wish that I had owned a printing house, a radio station, or a TV station over the course of the past 2 years. The money dumped into ads has been just phenomenal.

    Look for justifiable talk about Walker for President. The establishment R's won't like that, but we, the people, will.

      I have it from a good source that Walker is going to run for President. We will find out more if he attends the CPAC conference in Washington DC in February. Watch this. It will be broadcast on CSPAN for most of the weekend.

          I think we have to start now labeling Hillary as "Worse than Obama" Do it enough nationwide and it will stick.
          I know Scott Walker and my son and his son have work on events together. Scott is a good clean man. The Liberal DA in Milwaukee has been trying to nail Walker on so many things its ridiculous. He can't find anything. Walker is squeaky clean.
