There is a lot of humbug in the outrage over the president’s lie about everyone being able to keep their medical insurance and doctors. The whole statist endeavor is based on whoppers, among which: that coercion and government diktat are superior to incentives and markets; that the ruled cannot be trusted with freedom but their rulers can be trusted with unlimited power; that the rulers’ naked grabs for power and wealth are out of “selfless” concern for the subjugated; that power does not ultimately corrupt, and corrupt absolutely. The emperor has always been naked. Save Obama’s lie on the 50 quadrillion terabyte hard disk array of leaders’ lies to their subjects, but anyone who is surprised that it was used to sell this egregious fiasco should not be allowed to vote, own firearms, drive, or cross the street by himself. There has been plenty of warning.
