How can our public school system still find ways to surprise me? A marine vet is banned and the school is teaching kids about Islam. Unreal.

But your property tax is still supporting that school so it can find another victim to indoctrinate. Leaving the school is not enough.. leaving the community is.

Exactly my thinking Freedom...after the towers fell...after Fort Hood, after cutting off heads.
WHEN will the public stand up and say enough.. Enough of the public indoctrination..enough of the lies and cover ups and stealing tax money for things I have NO interest in paying for....Enough.

I would remove myself from this school with tolerance, kindness and respect and my children would never set foot back in the school again. Time to fine a new school, move or home school.

Great points Snoogoo. I think if this assignment was in the context of world history the school could have pointed out how. It appears from the paper shown they are simply teaching about Islam and not doing a very good job of it. I hope more parents ask questions about this.

Teaching about what religions teach is one thing, you can't completely understand something historical, like the Reformation, without knowing something about Christianity or the bible. Asking for opinions on it, however, and then saying the "right" answer is "kindness, tolerance, and respect" is just a complete historical inaccuracy and is designed to make the student that disagrees with that Opinion, uncomfortable. In High School, I routinely ticked off my teacher by bringing in primary historical references that contradicted our textbooks to support my arguments. I would encourage all parents and students to do the same. On a test my JR year I wrote a 4 page essay on why the Patriot Act was unconstitutional and a dangerous precedent for the expansion of executive powers for our unit on the constitution. (I was required to write a paragraph) I never got my test back, just an A-. Then the entire class got a lecture on how badly we performed. I got a crappy grade, but I'd rather get a crappy grade than let a teacher school me on something I know is wrong. So in short, I applaud the father in this case, but I hope his daughter brings in the historical proof to point out the historical inaccuracies of the teacher's "lesson" and I hope she is allowed to share it with the class.

I almost think they are trying to be as offensive as possible. It's obvious this concerned parent and veteran was not treated with tolerance, kindness and respect.

No doubt that playing of the video showing the Yazadi woman captured by ISIS/IL would be banned on the grounds of
    promoting religion, or racism.

    “With tolerance, kindness and respect."
Is that before or after the beheading?
