President Obama plans to name Ron Klain, a longtime political hand with no apparent medical or health care background.

A Czar by any other name is still a bureaucrat owed a favor.

I could never decide if it sounded more Nazi or Soviet.

I guess "Fatherland" and "Motherland" were already taken.

(Not that I'm truly equating We with They, but damn!)

"It's amazes me the title caught on without negative connotation. "
Me too! The name sounds like one of two things:
    1. A sinister way of giving one unelected person broad powers justified by some boggyman of the day.
    2. A large organization isn't effective at dealing some problem. Poor management leads to finger-pointing and inaction. Everyone's just keeping their head down. The only way to get people to take action is to appoint one person who will take the credit or the fall. That one person will be motivated to take action b/c she can't avoid blame, and everyone else can say they were just following the czar if things don't go right.

So it looks either sinister or inept.

    Downright sinister.

It's amazes me the title caught on without negative connotation.

An unelected official, all powerful within his domain, a lord above any oversight except his master's.

Yeah, we need a bunch more of those!

I never got the need to "czars". It always sounded bizarre to me.

So once again, the Administration provides a lawyer and public relations wonk to try to make us feel good, but where's the meat.

Where's Jefferson's 13th Amendment when we really need it?

I saw Obamas comments last night. He said if he appointed a Czar it would not be because the HHS secretary and CDC director weren't doing a great job. It would be to take some pressure off because they had so many other duties. I don't think these idiots know what real work looks like. In addition to that everyone in his administration has so far done a lousy job. Insulting.

The same old solution... Don't actually take charge and do something; just hire another flunky and pay him too much to do nothing. All show and no go. Optics problem solved temporarily in the eyes of the "useful idiots."
