??? Anyone living in CT, besides NMA? Be advised, creeping totalitarianism is coming for what's remaining of your liberties. That reminds me: If rights can be 'suspended', are they "rights" or OR are they PRIVILEGES? Deep Thoughts.

I think that is exactly what we are going to face starting with the mid-term election.

I always wondered what that punk Milhous was going to resort to.

I guess I'm not seeing the controversy here, we have to isolate people believed to have contacted ebola, its the only way to control the outbreak.

A more dangerous thing has come to light though, obviously, the CDC and the American health system is absolutely not prepared to deal with an unexpected health emergency - such as a bioterrorism attack.

So THAT's the reason Obama won't seal the borders. He can use it to manufacture a crisis of epic proportions in order to maintain power. If enough states do this, he'll just follow suit and declare the entire US a disaster area, suspend all rights, and impose martial law everywhere.

    Lovely.

I agree with Larry. The black plague killed up to 80% of some populations. In a case of such deadly peril, it is better to err on the side of prevention and protection. Too bad that incompetence can trump caution. Too bad complacence omits attention to teaching sound hygiene.

Can we please keep the issue of border control separate from the issue of an emergency health order. Otherwise, neither issue is clear or dealt with in a logical manner and arguing can go on forever about what everyone means because there is no clear meaning possible when the two issues are are conflated.

    In this case
    Conflating = confusion.

True, however the government does NOT have the right to wholly import an infectious foreign population in order to CREATE a crisis such as the one unfolding as I write this.

Reasonable precautions including having the Border Patrol to DO THEIR JOBS without executive branch INTERFERENCE, and active DEPORTATION of those here illegally is much more EFFECTIVE than the ones you list.

On the one hand you are condemning Obama for NOT being forceful enough to stop Typhoid Marys from coming over the border and on the other hand condemning potential enforcement in Connecticut to stop Typhoid Marys.

Obama has refused to take reasonable actions prohibiting carriers from entering the US because it would interfere with his lawless imposition of an "open borders" policy. He has no right to do that, either. One of the reasons for border controls was supposed to be to keep out the spread of disease threatening our lives. Typhoid Marys are just as bad as gangsters, terrorists, and parasites.

The Connecticut decree is frightening because it has no objective standards, imposing only what a "Commissioner" claims to "reasonably believe". A quarantine against a deadly infectious disease is not a violation of rights, but who can trust them to not exploit it politically under the non-objective standards? We have a government refusal to deal with the threat where it is supposed to, instead turning against helpless innocent citizens once again in the name of an "emergency". The combination of the lack of trust in the government and the threat of the disease can be expected to lead to general panic exploited by the power seekers.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste when it can be exploited to advance the statist agenda".

Where did you get that from? Totally irrelevant to the point. And the answer is no he should not have that right nor does he.

Yeah, I'm marooned in the Deep Blue People's Union of Nanny Connecticut.

Last week... That corresponds to the Quinnipiac poll announcing that Malloy was now tied with his GOP challenger Foley. Malloy was down by more than 7 points, but Quinnipiac keeps polling until they get the poll results they want. Foley should have beat him last time, but the Democrat Machine was able to muster up enough voter fraud to hand Malloy a few hundred vote victory.

Sorry, but the declaration is reasonable.

Perhaps you forget that liberty is not unlimited. You don't have the liberty to murder someone; neither with a weapon nor by infectious disease.
One person infected with Ebola can kill many people.

Reasonable precautions including isolation and quarantine falls under the duty of government to protect it's citizens.

Meanwhile, socialist Liar-In-Chief Chairman Obola bides his time as he contemplates the one precious word Princess Pelosi used about the current Mexican border invasion--"Opportunity."

Hmmm the freedoms we still enjoy:
    1) To vote for whomever the elites choose.
    2) To be patted down by the TSA
    3) To have representation in Congress
    4) To send our kids to non-Common Core public schools
    5) To transmit anything electronically that doesn't end up in the NSA's databanks
