Of course most N.A.'s are not offended. It's just another liberal scam dreamed up to denigrate football, which is under attack at present from several directions such as domestic abuse and physical damage. Nanny knows what's best for you, my dear.

    A couple of anecdotal stories.

    1) I lived for a while in Woodbury Connecticut.
The high school there is named Nonnewaug, after the local Indian tribe.
The school's team name, in honor of the tribe and local heritage, is The Nonnewaug Chiefs.
Local ruling class sausages try every once in a while to change the name because it is "offensive".

    2) Mrs. Eudaimonia's grandfather was friends with a high Mohegan elder (and possibly chief) named Tannequidgin (sp).
According to Mrs. E., Tannequidgin liked this song.

Imagine if it were made today.

    My point is this.
    Our Ruling Class are sausages.
They have been ground to unquestioningly believe that religion is stupid and that Marxism is not a religion.
So they can not even conceive that they are, in fact, evangelistic zealots for the holy word of Marx.

Anything which offends them must be destroyed: god commands it.

I agree... that unmentionable above has been and continues to be patently and grossly offensive, and if I had my way would me immediately and forever stricken - I mean, seriously, guys, it's almost as bad as the "C" word following "witch" in LS's post above... --lol--

Clyde Bellecourt and associates: http://theuptake.org/tag/clyde-bellecour..., have been the local instigators (Minnesota, Minneapolis). Clyde has been noted as saying the foremost reason for the objectionable "name" is the reference to the bloodied native corpses....post-scalped by whites....civilians and military.
I've been thinking of a "tentative" solution.
Concede to the whimsical demands with the stipulation of the new team name being "The Washington Marauders". The logo consisting of:
A scroll printed with "We The People"
A hand with a bloodied quill crossing out "People" and underwriting "Corporation" beneath.
    Just a thought......

I, also, live on a Rez. When working for the state doing child protection cases, we had a sweet old Arapaho lady as an "aide" to transport kids, oo home visits, etc. I once asked her about "native Americans" and she said, "Jim, let me make this easy for you. We are fucking Indians!!" My elk hunting buddy, Pat, is half white and half Shoshone. He calls himself an Indian. Last year, he suggested the Redskins change their name to the Washington DC Kleptocrats.

I also use the term nigger when it refers to the BEHAVIOR of a black person: liar, thief, violent, druggie, drunkie, etc. Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes, Walter Williams, Clarence Thomas are NOT niggers.

Dingy Harry may be surprised by the video, but I'd be willing to bet that he would think those Native Americans are PC ignorant and need a good talking to. After all, that's what more than equal elite betters like him are for.

It’s simply absurd to stop using a phrase because someone who doesn’t know its origin may misinterpret your meaning. If I walk into a garden center should I ask for a “small shovel" instead of "spade" so as to avoid the possible misinterpretation that I’m trying to find a black person? Should I look around to make sure there aren't any ladies of the night in the garden center when asking to buy a hoe? At the grocery store, should I ask for help finding the “Saltines” because I don’t want anyone to think I’m looking for a white person if I say “cracker”? Second guessing every word or phrase because someone with malice may use them in a derogatory manner gives those people power over our language. If they chose to misuse it that’s their right, as it is your right to choose to be offended by benign phrases. But we shouldn’t allow our language to be so easily co-opted by a few highly sensitive people.

So FCC bans "redskins"- is it old news to ask, then where is next line drawn? Atlanta Braves is cool? Cleveland Indians? Are these terms insults to Native Americans?

I live on a rez. Most people here, if they wear a football jersey it's for the Seahawks, as it is the closest franchise. I have never heard anyone complain about the Washington Redskins name. It is just all smoke and mirrors for an agenda.

Um, being a native Washingtonian I would say you have bought the hype. This is about the Baltimore Ravens owner wanting to build his club over in Maryland. He started the Ravens in the late nineties after the Redskins had one too many dismal seasons-- generational season seats were going up for sale. The Raven’s owner thought it was going to be easy. But Redskin fans are a loyal bunch and when the Redskins brought back popular coach, Joe Gibbs, the Ravens didn’t grab as many loyal fans as they thought they might. That’s when this mess began. The FCC had already pulled the trademark once, and lost in court already. But here comes the Raven’s owner once again throwing money at three democratic campaign funds of senators from the West, who apparently have the ability to muster BS from tribes that have squat to do with any of this. It is hissy-fit time for the cameras.
Redskin refers to the war-paint color. Some Indians used blue, some used white, and some used red. Kind of like our flag. It’s a fine thing. It’s Americana Iconic. It is certainly nobody’s business but natives and locals of Washington DC and surrounding area.
