those are trade secrets vs patents. it does not preclude them for disclosing most ingredients, or nutritional info. There is some compromise there -I'd have to look it up. As far as "signing a gift certificate for you patents" it's MUCH bigger than mom and pop bakers-check out my new post-

I would not comply. They can’t blackmail me. I would tell them to pound sand, close my shop and liquidate first. The Reardon protection of Dagny was noble, but short sighted. If he had not complied, and they published the pictures, they would have exhausted their leverage. I would have my attorneys threaten to expose and prosecute the blackmailers. This is the problem when nobody stands up to the usurpers. If they still insisted upon publication would it have seriously made any difference in the long run for Dagny? Of course hindsight is 20- 20, a device was needed for the story, and when the story was written the stigma was greater. In the real world the punishment for blackmail is considerable, and I always got the impression Dagny was a big girl and could have handled the fallout from her own indiscretions. Of course I have not stood in their shoes, and maybe I would see things differently. Just some random thoughts…

It's so true. What happened to the spirit of this country? What sapped the drive to be better, to achieve a goal, to make something? It's been suffocated under the blanket of over regulation of everything! It's sickening!

I never heard the penalty. What jumped out and kicked me in the gut was the 'turn over your recipes or else' implication. Never heard the 'or else'.

I'm not as stupid as the government seems to think I am. I don't need expensive packaging listing the calories on a cookie. I KNOW if I eat a cookie it has calories and it's MY CHOICE to consume those calories.

No I don't remember hearing that. The FDA scrutinizing the recipes for correct caloric content is just a cover story. And yes, it means only one thing: a step toward eventual "nationalization". What's the penalty if the private companies DON'T comply? I'd like to know if that was ever mentioned.

You said a mouthful! That's exactly right. Make it a nightmare to get a gun, as well. People will eventually give up because its too much trouble. I can buy a long gun in CT, just not a pistol. It takes 16 weeks to process a CC permit, if you're lucky. It will be about 5 to hear back for the Utah permit. Bass-ackwards.

I think that's best. Help your local guy stay in business.. I really am not a fan of Walmart and avoid the one here like the plague. There are quite a number of firearms dealers in the area, and I would go to them before any place else.

Does anyone remember a few weeks ago the reports that FDA wanted all the cookies and pastries sold at restaurants, delis etc to have the calories listed on them. To insure that the seller was reporting them correctly all the recipes had to be turned over to FDA so that they could scrutinize them. Just think of all the restaurants etc. that have proprietary recipes....like KFC, McDonald's secret sauce, Coke, Pepsi....I believe those are patented. Sign the Gift Certificate for your patents guys.

I was stunned the first time I was asked what type of gun it was for. I wouldn't tell her and the very young checker didn't know what to do because I wouldn't comply. She finally just rang it up and let me go. I'm in Montana. Lots of hunters here and they used to have a fairly well stocked supply of ammo at Wal-Mart. They still have a lot of long guns in the display cases, just nothing to put in them. Even though it cost more I'm going to stick with the local sporting goods store.

You're spot on about that. Yes, if this BS isn't stopped, by the time I'm an old man (another 40 years) this country will be NOTHING it was during my younger years. It isn't already. I've told both my teens this and they can't believe how things used to be, and that was only 20 years ago!

The majority of the left doesn't mind the idea of a totalitarian state provided such a government supports their political agendas.

Unfortunately, that means they're all too willing to support the surrender of individual rights without realizing that the power of the state can just as easily be wielded against them one day too.
