I love it when people claim that the world these days is just too out of control, or people are more evil, or the world is full of more problems.. I just say, well, if we were living in the 16th century Europe, we would have to deal with Plague, raiding armies that would literally skin us alive, rape and plunder, there would be no such thing as property rights unless you happened to be born into a noble family, and then if you didn't agree with the church you would get burned alive or stretched or, ...worse. If you didn't agree with the king or queen you would get your head chopped off or drawn and quartered. In the Middle east you could get stoned (nothing has changed there) or in the Americas you could be defeated by a rival tribe and have your shin bone used as a decorative flute, in Africa you would be sold into slavery to the East and forced to convert to Islam (again, nothing has changed there) so I'm pretty happy to be exactly where I am thank you very much! At least the West has made a lot of progress!

If you buy into Obama's take on it maybe we should ask who took their hand off the brake to allow this acceleration....
