In AWS it's the location of US-EAST2
It also houses a NAP (Network Access Point) all traffic flows through in that region, we have one in MIAMI that has the trans-ocean (doesn't mean lake... for lefties), fiber has been run.
It's the fastest path to the internet to be in a NAP i have clients in the Miami NAP.
I hear all of this fear, and I think:
- Buggy Whips
- Where are the poop scoopers (horses) supposed to work?
- Violent Protests against Electric Sewing Machines
- "If you don't get your shot, mine won't work"
Be honest. Assume an AI figures out how to kill us all TOMORROW.
And it does it. How long do you think that AI will stay turned on?
Do you think the power it is running on is infinite? Or will it teach the roomba's to do disco over a magnet and generate energy?
Unlike Ants... We provide the power that lets the AI live. Without us, there is no AI.
There are number of professionally made signs around my area proclaiming NO DATA CENTER. A lot of my neighbors, most of whom use Google and like how fast it is, are on board with stopping the proposed local data center. I have yet to get anywhere in suggesting they ask who is behind trying to prevent the data center.
Myself, I aware of the pre-indexing that goes into constructing a large dataset. Most others, including some techy guys, are not. Meanwhile, the PRC and others steam ahead.
