"Justice Department officials said Holder is merely asking for cooperation from the companies at this time." We're all familiar with cooperation, aren't we?

Title's misleading. I'd love to see the justice department put a boot in the 'nads of both Apple and Google, but this is about giving the gov't access to private data.

What I want on my phone is the ability to type in a 4 digit code and have it melt into an inaccessible lump.

gov't: "What's the passcode to access your phone?"
suspect: "0000"
::types it in::
::phone melts::
oops.
