My bride of 47 years tried fishing with me for the first time this spring and got hooked. Included with the fall catches are a few of her spring walleyes . She has a great fishing story with the Northern Pike the guide is holding for her. She had a bite and was reeling in and all of a sudden the rod almost got yanked out of her hand. She fought the big fish like a pro with rod tip up and after a good fight brought it into the net. As soon as the pike was netted it opened its mouth and spit out a 15 inch sauger that was hooked to her jig and shiner minnow. Two fish in one catch. She was sooo happy and excited , just loves it. She doesn’t bait the hook or touch the fish , she doesn’t have too. Live laugh love .

Glad to bring back fond angling memories. It’s exciting when they hit the lure, everytime. I didn’t mention my wife had her thumb nails polished in a lure pattern. You can see if you look close. Plus she has a prominent letter on her vest the 17th.

    That's awesome.
And there is a lesson for YOUNGER people.

When trying to bring someone into your hobby... Hiring someone else to show them how is a GENIUS move.
it removes the Judgement and Fights.

A friend went canoeing with a bunch of married couples. Fighting immediately!
The company made them pull ashore. Had all of the men get out and move ONE canoe to the right. The guy on the right to the left.
Now NOBODY was with their spouse. He had them introduce themselves to the other person.

And the next 2hrs was Amazingly peaceful and fun. Because we tend to treat our spouses much worse than we would treat a stranger.
And the guy who was running the show knew this. And did this many times. Nobody was trying to be "right", and nobody was "blaming".

    Genius Move!

Some of the pictures look like where I grew up in Northern Wisconsin. I used to fish with my Grandpa up there but that was a long time ago.

Oh, so fun! I don't fish....and I'm really not an outdoors person, but to see REAL photos of people I've interacted with here..... I totally love that!

Beautiful, and beautiful story. Can you ship me some Walleye to Nine Mile Falls, WA? I'm disabled now, so I can't fish it myself. In any case, thanks for the story.

    Dobrien,

It's a great thing your bride likes fishing and the outdoor life. My kind of gal.

Compatibility like that is a rare trait.
That and the fact you two made it to (almost) a half century is, sadly, far less common a thing these days.

I can relate to you long relationship and love of the outdoors.
I met my lady in High School so long ago now, she hushes me when I bring it up.

Enjoy every moment, we have so limited time here on God's green earth.

God Bless the both of you.
