Florida is doing what no blue-state classroom dares: forcing students to confront the actual body count of communism instead of romanticizing it.

Excerpt:
"Starting this fall, every public school student from sixth grade onward will receive mandatory instruction on the history and evils of communism under standards signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The curriculum covers the Soviet Union, the Chinese Communist Revolution, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and the recent capture of Nicolás Maduro."

I'd like to see them also expose the hands of Hollywood and news media in treasonous support for communism since the early 1900's.

What we are seeing is another proof if the plantation owners can prevent the slaves from reading or becoming educated in any way, then it's easier to keep them slaves. We are also seeing the willingness of the new slave class to voluntarily remain ignorant. Sad really.

How did the millions upon millions that got killed whitewashed by any history? It was their own people that they were killing. Do not the people that are now espousing socialism realize this? If "they" succeed in a change in government, the first people up against the wall will be them!

And then I read through the rest of your post - the DEI nonsense and forcing kids that were bright to sit through a class that was geared toward the slowest (or lately the non-English speaking students) - and they did not have a chance.....

Because since the late 50's the left (pro-socialists) have been in control of 'government' schools.
I think LBJ's damned fool Viet Nam war lies might have convinced enough
(not all) so-called 'educators' that socialism couldn't be that bad if it defeated the
US military. (Not that the 'educators' understood anything about the war.)
Dumping millions of less educated students into newly "integrated"
schools had a distinct negative effect on learning, iirc, starting in 1970.
DEI hiring of teachers without command of their subjects (and trained
to favor socialist policies) further destroyed the 'government' education system.
The inconvenient truth that socialism always ends in economic collapse
couldn't be taught by people brainwashed otherwise and the millions of
deaths caused by socialism had to be written out of history while
    colonialism had to be demonized.
It was easier to blame the 'west' for thousands who fought and died in Viet
Nam than to blame communism for the more than 100 million that socialism
    murdered.

The death toll in the Soviet Union, The Chinese Communist State, and then add in the Pol Pots of the world - inflicted on their own peoples - make the death toll in WWII look small.

Why is it that this has not been taught in US schools since the '60's?

Heard that great piece of news in the car not 1/2 hour ago! Go Florida!

Not a snowballs chance in the infernal regions will such truth be placed on the curriculum for students in NY!
