I find it fascinating that in the 50's and 60's we had no Internet and limited phone access, yet any kid in this entire country who watched Popeye knew those two sets of alternate lyrics LMAO

You are all triggering so many memories with these posts. Francis Marion the Swamp Fox, Eh Chico, Eh Cisco, Hopalong, Sky King, Fury, Rin Tin Tin, Captain Kangaroo, Howdy and Buffalo Bob, Midnight the cat and Andy Devine, they just don't stop. How innocent and joyful, full of beans and unstoppable we were. No longer innocent, but the joy, beans and unstoppable are still part of us.

Go Rubio! I like Pop tarts, too, especially nicely toasted, but I haven't had them in a long time as I must watch my salt and sugar intake. After Pop tarts the memes get sobering except the great Hormuz golf course float, LOL, as we are now let in on the real plans for the Straight! Thanks again, OUC!

Hint: They taste like various lightly flavored sugar spread on a hard crust containing a very thin layer of jam, LOL. Yummy, especially hot!

This little bit more added to that raw from me dino's ancient memory~~
              "Thar's Indians waitin' out there.
Just waitin' tuh take my hair.
PLEASE MR. CUSTER I DON'T WANNA GO!!!"
(At some point you can almost hear the dude crying).
Also found a chorus hooting "Woo-woo-woo!" off and on in the background most amusing.
Also recall as a kid howling along with that "Werewolves Of London" song.
Also in top of an also, I once as a kid cracked up a female dental assistant doing howls while a dentist was trying to examine my teeth.
              A~wooooooo!
              Decided to look werewolves up~~https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lh0...

                Smilin', dino!

Lots of oldies are fun songs. Do "they" make fun songs anymore? Recall Flying Purple People Eater, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and some others.

Ancient memory just got triggered. Way back when as a little kid there's a Disney character with a song I used to mock the hell out of. You know, in a little kid's kinda way.
                  First, here's the song~~https://www.bing.com/search?q=texas+j...
Now here's my mocking version. To wit, "Texas John Slaughter made 'em do as they oughta for if they didn't they died. (Then I'd scream). THEY DIED! THEY DIED! FOR IF THEY DIDN'T THEY DIED! BWAHAHA! KILL! KILL! KILL THEM ALL! MAKE 'EM ALL DIE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Oh, and another thing. During World War 2, General Patton made sure to tell news people that his two Colt 45 handles were made of ivory.
He said only queers would use pearl-handled revolvers. Homosexuals began to call themselves gay when I~~born during 1947~~was old enough to read a newspaper editorial bemoaning how the new use of "gay" slighted volumes and volumes of fine poetry previously written.

Agreed about the word gay, which is now forever tainted. The word was a happy word. I grew up with a good friend with the last name Gay before the word was so terribly "repurposed". The famous fighter pilot who was shot down and rescued during the battle of Midway was George Gay and then there's the Enola Gay...

I liked the Texas John Slaughter series, too!

We used to mock the theme from Davy Crockett (Fess Parker series), which I also really liked:

Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee,
Cutest little baby you ever did see,
Shot the nurse, killed the doctor,
escaped from prison in a helicopter!
Davy! Davy Crockett! King of the wild frontier!

I now recall hearing as a kid a different mockery of the Disney Crocket theme song repeated in Dothan, Alabama, but can no longer remember how it went.
But just awakened in my memory is~~
                      I'm Popeye the sailor man.
I live in a garbage can.
I always go swimmin' with bowlegged women.
                      I'm Popeye the sailor man.
Reading what I just wrote above~~That's just something stupid little kids would laugh at least the first time. Quite sure I must have because I picked it up and went around repeating it.
Loved those old Popeye beat 'em up cartoons and a Warner Brothers character like Bugs handing Elmer Fudd a stupidly staring at it lit stick of dynamite. Too violent me the dino recalls complaints.

                        Yes! Also:

                        I'm Popeye the sailor man,
I live in a garbage can,
                        I eat all the worms,
                        And spit out the germs!
I'm Popeye the sailor man, boop boop!

Holy smokes, what we remember from a fun and misspent youth, LMAO! Oh no - more goofy stuff popping into my head, LOL!

Hey Dino, some of the songs we sang would probably be banned today! And the one I remember about the Crocket song that us kids all used to laugh at would not be able to be uttered today....

Back then, if there was an issue, all it resulted in would have been a mouth washed out with soap. Now - no telling what the price would be! But might be fun to see the grins on the people that would remember their younger days.

Dino Patton said (this is from the movie, I did not hear him say it) that only queers and pimps would use pearl handed revolvers...but true just the same! A heck of a General -
